I ordered this kit as a way to spend time with some friends, and the kit did not disappoint! It had everything you'd need to get started with your candle-making visions. Right off the bat, the product arrived quickly and without issue. The packaging was simple to open and easy to find everything inside. I like the type of wax in this kit because it was more like shreds or chips of wax which, in my opinion, melt better and quicker than the small wax beads that some kits come with. In addition to everything else, this kit provides an extra bonus of dried rose buds and lavender, so you can add some floral pizzazz to your candles as you go. The hot plate works well, and the most work you have to do aside from melting and pouring wax is putting the little feet on the hot plate so it sits up a bit higher. I will say, though, this kit does only come with 2 vessels for candles, so I also made sure to pick up a set of candle holders/vessels in addition to those that came with the kit. The stick on pads for the included wicks work well, too, though I did find that sometimes the little pad would unstick itself when I'd pour wax into the container, so that's probably my only complaint with this.

This is a great candle making kit. You get everything you need to be your first four candles. I love that it includes a hot plate. I have been hesitant to make candles because I do not wish to use a double boiler. This solves the problem. It comes with the melting/pouring pot to melt the wax (use silicone potholder on handle which is not included). You also get two bags of wax (enough to make four candles the size of the tins included). You get a cooking thermometer (with Celsius and Fahrenheit), ten cotton wicks (plus ten glue dots), two round tins (one gold, one black), two centering devices, four warning stickers (for tins), two packages of dried flowers (rose and lavender), stirring spoon, and instructions. There are basic directions for making candles. There are no instructions for adding coloring or essential oils. I like the soy wax included. It is easy to follow the directions. Since lavender was included in the kit, I let someone else have the kit (I am highly allergic, and I did not notice that it was included). My sister-in-law and kids had fun making candles. This is a great kit for a beginner.

I am most impressed with this kit as it includes equipment that a person can use if they wish to pursue a candle making hobby after the supplies in the kit are used up. The included hot plate (or portable electric stove as this kit calls it) is so much safer (and faster) than using a double boiler on a range. The included thermometer (showing both Celsius and Fahrenheit degrees) is a “must have” if one is going to work with different types of wax in the future.The included directions are clear and walk the user through the steps to turn the materials provided into two cute candles in tin containers with lids. Some of the marketing photos in the ad show wax of different colors, but please realize you would need to provide your own candle dyes if you wanted to color the wax. Amazing kit for beginners! I would recommend to start out with this kit, it comes with everything you’ll need to start out your hobby and see if you’ll like it. The hot plate did smoke a little bit when turning on, but I assume that was normal as it’s a hot plate and there weren’t any issues with it while I used it. The melting pot is pretty big as well, you can make about five 4 oz candles at a time. The tin cans are about 4 oz’s each and each bag comes with two candles worth of wax, so honestly it’s a great deal as you’re getting 16 ounces of wax in this kit. It also comes with many wicks in case you mess up at first and it comes with a sheet of wick stickers and the metal contraptions to hold the wick up. I was able to make my own candle from this kit! Definitely would recommend for people just starting out in candle making
