Works with Alexa perfectly!
I purchased the SH400 WiFi version Why I purchased: not that you may care but it helps in understanding my selection :). My gas fireplace had an existing remote. Battery operated and it began to fail causing the flame to go out within a few minutes. I have slowly turned the house into a smart home (which is a blessing and a curse especially when my wife ends up fighting with Alexa to turn something on!). Anyway this unit looked like it would do what I wanted - turn the fireplace on and off with Alexa. What’s in the box: Not sure why but I was expecting a large box for this unit - nope - it’s a relatively small box. About a third of a shoe box. Inside is a wiring harness for all fireplace controls, the power supply cord for the controller and a 120v splitter in case you only have one outlet under the fireplace. They also send a manual - but really I did not need it and will explain below. Installing: Note - my fireplace had a 2 outlet receptacle so I did not use the 120v splitter, also it had an existing remote and a blower. First without connecting anything I plugged in the power to the controller (not the AC plug), opened my smart life app and pushed the main power button on the controller. My smart life app immediately recognized the unit and began the addition process - I just followed the prompts on the app and voila, fireplace was added. All leads coming from the controller are clearly labeled where they go and give very clear instructions on how to connect. So my first connection was the signal wires for the gas controller. This was easy because I had the leads from my old remote. Just connected them to the labeled controller wires opened the smart life app clicked on fireplace hit the power and then increased the temp and poof! FIRE. Excellent. Now to figure out how to get the fan hooked up. At this point I DID NOT CONNECT the 110v wire as I was not sure if the controller leads would then have 110v (shock hazard). Rather than try to squeeze my pudgy hands into the back of the fireplace to reach the power leads to the blower, I simply purchase a female end of a 110v plug (Amazon for less than $4). I wired the controller wires to the female plug (yes I had to cut the ends off of the 3 controller wires) and then plugged the blower cord into it. NOW I plugged the 120v plug from the controller into the outlet. Back to the app, power on, temp up and poof! FIRE and WIND! The blower was now on. I also have a fan knob on my fireplace and I placed that on ‘Hi’ because the controller will now regulate the speed. Setting your manual knob any lower than the highest setting will limit the controllers ability to control the fan. The controller also comes with a temperature sensor and I simply ran the wire on the outside of the fireplace and mounted to the side trim. Wire is hidden by the trim and the sensor is small enough that it is not noticeable. This does not come with a separate remote, you use the app for that. The App: Most of our smart devices are on Smart life and the applications are very intuitive. The fireplace app has a large temp dial in the center of the screen that you just rotate to the desired temp. You can program it via a schedule set the +/- temp swings to control the room temp, set to C or F, if you click on the C/F you can also access the blower speeds. Very simple and intuitive. I did rename the device in the app to just ‘fireplace’ as the installed device name was something like ‘superkalafragalisticexpialodocious’. Alexa: our Smart Life skill is enabled on Alexa so as soon as the fireplace was connected in the Smart Life app Alexa recognized it and connected it in the device list. My wife likes to have the fireplace on in the morning as she has her tea and reads so I set up a routine in Alexa. My wife says ‘Alexa, fireplace on” and the routine turns the unit on and temp to 75. ‘Alexa, fireplace off’ turns the unit on and temp to 60, this way the unit is on and monitoring the room for the ambient temp. If it drops below 60F then it will turn on and heat the room to 60. Note that if you turn the main power off the unit is off and not monitoring the ambient temp. Alexa can not control the blower speed (at least from what I have seen so far) but if you set the fan speed to auto in the app and do not turn the main power off then it should be good to go - I am monitoring that now. If you turn the main power off it seems to reset the speed to low. Obviously this unit relies on WiFi and 120v power so if the power goes out and you want the fireplace to kick on (without blower obviously) you would still have to wire a mechanical thermostat and set it somewhere lower than your lowest temp that you have in the app. I have mine set for 50F, this way the app controls to 60f and above and if we are not home and the power goes out and then drops below 50 the mechanical (ie no power required) thermostat keeps the house above freezing. Hope this helps Enjoy

Easy to install!
Apparently they were placed the red metal one back in 2022 with a black plastic one. I hope it still has the quality of a metal one. Everything worked great. Set up only took me about five minutes. It is a little confusing with the instructions so I had to watch a YouTube video. I’m pretty techy so set up was a breeze. I had it working with my Alexa in no time. Great product.

Simple install. Works flawlessly.
My fireplace came with a millivolt switch installed to the side. It took about 10 minutes to remove the old switch and install the base unit. The remote came pre-configured, so the whole system worked immediately. Best money spent for controlling the fireplace remotely! The displayed temp is between 2F and 4F lower. Not a big deal now that I know. (My electric fireplace is even worse)

Worded as hoped, some installation issues, no big downsides.
This product has worked out well, at least for the first day of use. The product arrived quickly, and all the pieces were there and in good condition. It came by US Mail in a padded envelop. My first issue was with the description. The product picture shows wires attached, which I did not need. I could not locate info in the description about these. It turns out that they are attached at the rear of the black box via set screws, and so they are removable. That IS what I wanted. My application is to remove an existing wall switch for the fireplace (the millivolt lines that control the gas valve). The second issue was with the installation. The description does indicate the size of the black box, and says to measure your electrical box first. My box was a standard plastic box, as used in the US, BUT the product black box does NOT fit in it. It looks like it would, but the strain relief labs and structures in the back of the electrical box keeps the black box from sliding in the whole way (see pictures). I did get around this problem by removing the structures at the back of the box that were interfering. They are just plastic, and easy to work with. Also, since this is a low voltage application, the structures that are there for line voltage use are not needed - but check you own electrical codes first. With the electric box modified, things were ready to be installed. I removed the two black wires from the black box. The set screws are VERY small and cheaply made, I think. You will need a very small Phillips screwdriver, or perhaps even a jewelers screw driver. A better product would have had much larger set screws that were easier to work with, and less likely to have their heads damaged during installation. I removed the wires from the existing switch, and inserted them into the back of the black box, and tightened the set screws. Very easy. Install the batteries (included) into the black box, and the remote. Before attaching the front plate, you need to make sure the slide switch on the black box is in the "off" position. Okay, this is not too hard, but the switch is also very cheaply made, and does not have strong detents in its three positions. But its workable. The front plate attached easily. The slide button also went on okay. But with that plastic slide button handle in place, the slide switch became really difficult to operate. Once again, the detents were not very useful. Once you get the slide switch into the "off" position, the pairing of the remote with the black box worked just as described. I buttoned up the installation and tried it out. It worked just fine, just as you would expect. I can turn the fire on and off with the remote as you would expect. The remote has a temperature monitor as well. I just tried it out by adjusting the desired temperature to a high level, and the first did come one. I suspect that it works pretty well, but I will need to use it for a while to check it out. I didn't test the timer function at all. Overall, I like this product. The biggest issue for the casual user is the installation in an existing electrical box, if that is what you plan to do. You WILL probably need to modify the existing box. Luckily, mine was easy to remove. If your's is nailed to a stud, you may have a real problem. It would probably be easiest to give up on that box, and install a new box, modified as needed, for this product. The set screws and slide switch are really cheaply made, and could fail mechanically if one is not careful. A few extra cents in the manufacture of this product would have made it much better, I think. Four stars. Recommended. Works as hoped, and no big downsides.

Poor Documentation, Terrible Design
I simply cannot recommend this or any Durablow remote. Durablow includes the most basic instructions showing the 'happy path' for connecting this to your WiFi but 98% users will not have an understanding of the complexities of WiFi 2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz and how to separate them if they are on the same SSSID. I promise you it's going to be a struggle for them and even the 2% that do. As an IT professional, I cannot get these to consistently work. I originally had a 2.4Ghz model. I switched to 1 SSID with 2.4, 5, 6GHz so purchased this and it worked initially. Decided to go back to splitting my 2.4Ghz for IoT devices. Now I cannot connect to the 2.4Ghz band or the 5Ghz band - even after following the basic instructions to a T. I'll select the network it'll say it's connecting and timeout every single time. Durablow either needs to hire someone to properly develop product documentation or put in WiFi chips that ACTUALLY WORK. I will never buy a Durablow product again.

Muy interesante este artículo de mando a distancia, todavía no lo conecto porque me faltaron varios componentes, sugiero que vendan todo el kit completo, porque sin duda todos han de batallar igual

For the price you can't get any better, It is better then the original and receiver is much smaller to fit inside Only 2 wire to connect just 2 to 3 minute One think, Delivery guy never ring the bel just drop it off, Lucky I have cameras and I see So delivery should know little more about delivering thinks, nock or ring the door bel. I don't see the date when I bought the prevues one maybe 2 or3 years ago and don't remember price so yesterday I order one more not because the privies one have problem, because still work perfect and very happy with But I have 2 fireplaces and now my second one give up so without thinking I order one more. One think I don't need the wall mounting plate and I would lake if there is wall hiding pocket for the remote control, This unit work perfect and easy to instal it, My original is much bigger and I have little problem where to install it because I just live it in the bottom corner inside the fireplace just close to the front so remote would work when I point it but original one is big and not much room for, This unit is much smaller and fit inside without any problem. Also to buy one here local would pay double and more, This unit I pay for $96 + taxes $107 local would cost about $230
