Couldn't be easier to install, works like a champ!
The connectivity kit is comprised of two parts: one replaces your existing door control; the other plugs into your ethernet router. The two communicate wirelessly.Installation is simple and well described in the manual. First, remove the existing door control and replace it with the new one; there are only two wires, and the terminals are clearly identified WHITE and RED, make sure you respect the polarity. Second, write down the serial number you will find on the gateway box so you have it handy next to your computer, and connect the gateway to an available ethernet port on your router or switch. This is not a wifi device; some may find this limiting, but it greatly simplifies installation and configuration.Once the gateway is installed, you can go to the mychamberlain.com website and create an account. The setup wizard will ask you for a gateway serial number; that's where things went wrong for me, as the number was not recognized as a valid number. I logged out, logged back in, went through the manual steps for adding a gateway and everything worked fine; I suppose the setup wizard has a bug, which will likely be fixed by the time you read this. You then need to add a device, a step which pairs the opener button to your system: this requires going to the door controller and pressing the "learn" button twice. That's it!I then installed the iPhone application, "Chamberlain myQ" (a free app from the Apple App store, a free Android app is also available). Log in using your mychamberlain account credentials, and you're done: you can now open, close, and check the status of your garage door remotely anywhere you have internet access. You can also setup alerts that will warn you whenever the door is open and/or closed. The controller interface can also be setup to automatically close the garage door after a preset amount of time (5, 10 or 15 minutes) . Note that whenever the door closing is triggered by automation (timer or internet remote) a loud beeping sounds and the closing is delayed a few seconds. This is a safety feature and can not be defeated.I have a couple of gripes about the iPhone app (version 1.3). First, it offers you the option to save your username, but not your password. I understand it's a security feature, but it's beyond irritating. My phone is already protected by a password, and I don't want to have to enter another password every time I need to access the garage door opener! Chamberlain should at least offer an option to save the password and log in automatically, or remain logged in until further notice, as some applications do.The other problem is that every once in a while my garage door disappears from the app, which I assume is caused by a disconnection from Chamberlain's web site; quitting the app and relaunching it -- and relogging in, including typing in the password, grrrr! -- takes care of the problem.Despite these minor gripes, which are localized to the app and I hope Chamberlain will fix soon, this product is absolutely wonderful! Very easy to install, no subscription, and it offers automation and monitoring. Now, when I go for a run, I no longer need to take my keys; and when I leave for work and worry about whether or not I remembered to close the garage door, a simple look at the app (after entering the password) will reassure me that I did, or let me close the door if I forgot.I'm absolutely thrilled with this product and can't recommend it enough.[UPDATE]On the iOS app, under the "Account" tab, if you select "My Account", then "Security", you can turn off the password requirement for launching the application, accessing the account and/or opening the door... so my biggest gripe goes away. It could be in a more intuitive place, but at least the setting is there: perfect!

Chamberlain CIGCWC Gateway - The Perfect Solution to My Morning Paranoia
I received this today. This device works absolutely flawlessly.I bought the device because I'm paranoid. I'm constantly rushing out the door in the morning (teenagers in the morning are stressful) due to having a kid who does everything last minute. It's like diffusing a bomb and clipping the right wire with 1 second left. Anyway, I digress. This has caused me to, on occasion, leave the garage door open and have to drive back from the office to shut it. Usually, it's actually closed, however, probably 2 out of 10 times I've driven back, it was actually left open. That's enough for me to worry. This device is basically a gateway that allows you to send commands to your garage door via your local network IP. Chamberlain also provides an Internet gateway that communicates with your local gateway so you can access your garage door through your browser. Simple and convenient. The local gateway can be connected through your router, a wireless extender with a LAN port, or an Ethernet hub. I connected mine through the router but may move it to the extender to reduce clutter. Here's a breakdown of what I think about the CIGCWC gateway:A. Installation - This literally took approximately 10 minutes or less (including unboxing) total using the following steps:1. Remove existing wall control unit in your garage. I didn't unplug anything. All you need is a Philips head screwdriver. 1 min.2. Install the new wall control unit. This involves hooking-up a white and a red wire and attaching the unit to the wall. Test the new wall control unit. It should work just like the old one without having to do anything else. 1 min.3. Take the gateway, and, using your phone, take a picture of the serial number on the unit. You'll need this later. 30 sec.4. Use the included Ethernet cable to establish a wired connection to your router. 10 sec.5. Use the included power adapter to plug the gateway into your wall outlet. 5 secs.6. Open a browser window on your computer and navigate to [...] and create an account. The site has instructions. Simply follow them. 2 mins.7. Check your email and verify your account. 30 sec.8. Log in to your account at [...] and add the gateway to your account using the serial number you took a picture of in step #3. There are steps on the website. Once added, use the web interface to open and close the garage door. It should work without you having to do anything else. 1 min.9. Download the MyQ app to your mobile devices (either using the link on the website or directly from your device using either Google Play for Android or the Apple App Store for Apple devices), install, and log in using the same account you used when you initially setup your account in step #6. I installed mine on 3 Android devices. 2 phones and 1 tablet. This only took about 2 mins per device since I just pushed the app to all devices using the web interface instead of downloading the app individually for each device.10. Test each of your mobile devices using the MyQ app to ensure that you can open and close the garage door. That's it. From there, you can set all sorts of rules to run such as what you would want your garage door to do in case you left it open. You can even set push notifications that will notify when any of the set events occurs. I set mine to notify me if the garage door is left open for more than 10 mins.If you have an older garage door opener like I do, and you want to add remote access, this device will do the trick. I got mine on sale for $68.50 on Amazon and it was worth every penny. Highly-recommended.
