My birds are obsessed with these seeds
These seeds are clean with almost no debris in the bag that I received. They are devoured quickly and happily by the birds in my backyard, leaving no mess. A great buy, and I plan to buy more.

Apparently delicious!
Our backyard birds devour these as fast as they can-- they can't get enough of them! The bag was clean and fresh, and even came with a joke on the package! I'd happily buy seed from Schoen Farms again.

Waiting for the Yard Critters vote
It shipped sooner than expected. The packaging may have been sealed in haste though---when I removed the outer Amazon bag I ended up scattering seeds about my kitchen. They looked nice and fresh and white though---which added to the fun as I swept them off the white tile.It is winter here in Wisconsin so only a small amount have been put out for the more hardy Yard Critters. I will update when the Yard Critters have had a chance to sample them and cast their vote on flavor.

Very Happy Birdies at Our House/ Their New Favorite!
Wish I could share a photo of all the birds mobbing our feeder to get to these tasty safflower seeds but the birds are camera-shy. These seeds are a BIG hit and we're almost out of them (a happy problem to have). The first day I filled one of our feeders the birds seemed a bit tentative as they are used to a different kind of seed mix. I looked out the window the next morning and the feeder was completely empty; time to refill. We have a variety of birdies here including oak titmouses, mockingbirds, western scrub jays, spotted towhees, house sparrows, finches, woodpeckers, bushtits, california towhees, doves, pigeons and as far as I could see they were all enjoying the bounty! This is their new favorite and we love the fact these seeds come from a small family business who cares about the quality of their seeds. We know our birds are getting a good quality seed. Another thing I didn't read initially is that squirrels & other critters are not too fond of safflower seeds so that's a big plus. They have plenty of other food sources around here so we prefer they leave the birds to enjoy the bird feeders. Thank you , highly recommend!

The birds love them, but so do the squirrels!
I noticed in the produce description that these seeds are a bit less appealing to squirrels... not those in my neighborhood. Like the black oil sunflower seeds, both the birds and the squirrels tend to go nuts over these. Our feeders this year have been incredibly busy, and these seeds tend to disappear shortly after we put them out.I do understand that these may be a healthier option for the birds, but I have to admit that the current price point is a bit steep if we were to keep these in stock. We could easily use the 7-pound bag weekly, so at $27 for 7 pounds, these are not likely something our household will keep in the feeding rotation.

High quality seed
The safflower seed arrived when I was hanging a new feeder. I poured some in and put the feeder out. The safflower seed was an immediate hit-- The first afternoon there were cardinals, goldfinches, house finches, chickadees and a solitary titmouse.Pros:It's very high quality seed. • The seed is fresh & clean. • No twigs, stems or dust. • No cracked seeds. • The birds are all over it.Cons: • Only one con-- It's pricey. There's definitely no waste, but I can't buy it at the rate it's being eaten. Basically the birds like it way too much!!

Clean bag of quality safflower seeds.
I wanted to switch things up at my feeders and offer our birds safflower seeds for their nutritional value. Safflower seeds are high in protein, fat and fiber..This bag of safflower seeds arrived fresh and clean. I filled a tube feeder with them and set it out for the birds. I understand hopper and platform feeders also work well for offering this seed.My feeder has been out for a few days, and so far the birds seem to prefer the black oil sunflower seeds they are used to. Apparently, this is not unusual and some experts recommend mixing the seeds to tempt the birds into trying something new. Safflower seeds look and taste different from their sunflower cousins. I experienced the same reluctance when I first offered dried meal worms. But now they scoop them up in no time. I expect the same will happen with these seeds. At any rate, these look like excellent seeds. Highly recommend.

Exactly as advertised!
TL/DR: Nice big bag o’ safflower seeds!Pros:o Good amounto Clean safflower, no fillerCons:o None at time of reviewI feed our backyard birds year round and as a result, inadvertently feed the backyard squirrels. This seed is one of the more undesirable to squirrels while attracting a variety of fun birds. The bag is just as advertised- a big bag of just safflower seeds. I also love that it’s from a small business and plan to buy more from them in the future.--------I'm honored to be included in the Amazon Vine program, and I work really hard to make these reviews and videos helpful.
