A five-star, spot-on 1980's version of wrestling's biggest legend...
Before Wrestlemania III's "bodyslam heard 'round the world," the Immovable Object and the Irresistible Force clashed in 1980, when Andre the Giant wrestled as the face and a caped Hulk Hogan, led to the ring by Freddie Blassie, as the heel. This figure, originally an Amazon.com exclusive but now also found at Toys"R"Us, is a spot-on representation of in-ring Andre from the duo's then-fued-closing match at the Showdown at Shea in Flushing, New York. From my research, I can't pinpoint whether or not he wore the vest at that show, but he wore it frequently during this time period. The good: Look at this figure in box and the promotional picture of Andre I've attached to this review side-by-side. This simple exercise provided me a new level of appreciation for the love and care Mattel put into this figure. Two critiques you could posit are: 1) the trunks are too blue and 2) the laces are too white. You might be right on the laces, but in-ring shots from the Showdown at Shea show that royal blue is an accurate representation of Andre's in-ring gear. The bad: Right now some of 1980's Showdown at Shea resides only in the memories of individuals who saw it first- or secondhand, for video or photos of Andre's entrance can't be found anywhere on the internet or the WWE Network. (I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents' eyes yet, so I'm useless.) Because of that, it's hard to tell if this is an amalgamation of multiple Andre looks or if it is, in fact, him at the Showdown. My only other issue again has to do with the vest: I'd love to have it in fabric, but the fringe likely made this cost-prohibitive for Mattel. A five-star, spot-on figure of wrestling's biggest legend.

Classic WWF Wrestler
Bought Andre the Giant for for my tween son and he absolutely loves it. It is made of super high quality material and will last for years to come. Looks just like the real thing and is taller than all of the wrestlers hence the “giant” name. Arms and legs are moveable forwards and back and head moves side to side. I can hear my son having royal rumbles against newer characters like AJ Styles. Highly recommend for any wrestling enthusiast.
