Q: Why is this filter not suitable for whole house use?

To give an updated answer on why we don't recommend this for whole house is that although it has removal capacity which would work for high volume situations, the post filter (part that keeps the carbon from flowing out the exit) is small and not made for whole house applications where you might be running multiple taps at one time. It is also not recommended for high sediment applications without a pre-filter for the same reason. The small post filter could plug more quickly than the capacity of the carbon is exhausted. The filter in this size that we recommend is the Pentek rfc-bb radial flow carbon filter. Careful because there are a lot of imposters advertised as 'compatible.' It is rated to remove chlorine taste and odor for more than 50,000 gallons at 2 gpm as compared with the GAC-BB which is rated at 12,500 gallons. It also has a lower pressure drop (0.9 psi at 2 gpm compared to 4 psi at 2 gpm.) Q: Allthough it says 6 microns as part of the filter, can anyone tell me what the actual rating is? I'm looking for a 0.5 micron filter to remove cysts

A 6 micron filter will not remove 0.5 micron cysts. You need a sub-0.5 micron filter to remove 0.5 micron cysts.

Q: Why doesn't this have a Micron rating?

This cartridges uses loose fill granular activated carbon media. The void volume of the loose media is too large to support a micron rating.

Q: What is the flow rate with 60-70 psi water pressure?

Depends on what your regulator is set at I'm running mine at 60psi it flows great we're on well water it's been over a year now buy a spare because the water pressure will drop with out notice when it's time to change out your filter
