Provides a full grip
The best feel of any stock handgun comes in the form of the CZ 75. The SP101 serves a different purpose.Having never felt comfortable with the original hanging pinky grips on the SP101 I tried the Hogue 81000 Monogrip which was good quality but too thin, like where’s the beef? The Pachmayr Diamond Pro Grips hit the sweet spot, providing a confident grip in my medium sized hand. The installation instructions are printed under the folded portion at the bottom back of the retail card in the package. Unfolding that portion also reveals a small piece paper with the fitting instructions along with a piece of shim tape folded inside. The grip screw and grip screw bushing are found in a small, clear seal-top bag. Upon opening the package and removing the contents it would be very easy for the small piece of shim tape to slide out and get lost. By reading and following the installation instructions, and fitting instructions if needed, you should experience no problems. My grips fit perfectly without the need for shim tape, and I can recommend them without reservation.P.S. I ordered these six days before Christmas and Amazon Prime delivered the next day.

this the best grip(s) that will help to tame the recoil of ...
Hands down, this is the best grip(s) that will help tame the recoil of the .357Magnum cartridge (when shooting a Ruger SP101). I love shooting .357 Magnum loads in various older and newer revolvers. However, it was not an enjoyable experience out of the Ruger SP101 with a 2.25" barrel (which I knew in this configuration; a short barrel and small-framed 5-shot DA/SA .357Magnum Revolver). Moreover, I didn't plan on regularly shooting .357Magnum out of my SP101 (largely a steady diet of .38SPL+P instead). But, I decided to try it out and the first time I shot .357Magnum out of my Ruger SP101 (with a 2.25" barrel) it was a painful experience to say the least. The heavy recoil (which I knew was coming with the factory Ruger Rubber grips with wood inserts) actually caused a cut on the inside top-web portion of my dominant shooting hand (I tend to grip high on the grip-frame for better control, etc. on a revolver). Needless to say, I didn't shoot another .357Magnum cartridge out of my SP101 (until I took a chance on these Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips). I was pleasantly surprised how it tamed .357Mag 158 gr loads while at a local shooting range. Don't get me wrong, NO grips will eradicate the recoil of the .357Magnum cartridge in this platform (Ruger SP101). However, what they do is make the recoil largely manageable and less painless to shoot; when now enjoying the stout .357Mag cartridge out of the Ruger SP101. I've now managed to successfully train with 125 gr, 135 gr, and 158 gr on bi-weekly outings at the range. I can comfortably shoot .357 mag loads on a regular basis for self-defense scenario/training (as well as .38SPL+P; a breeze walk in the park with the Diamond Pro Grips). Would you want to shoot 500 rounds in one outing at the range? No. But, 2-3 boxes of 50 (.357Mag) are no problem! These grips are that good; even bought a set for a Smith model 60-9 (in a similar configuration as the SP101). Will they win a beauty contest? No. :) But, these are for comfort and they will suit anyone looking to change the dynamics (training for all sorts of situations/cartridges) of your SP101. I've got nicer revolvers with fancy wood grips/and Tyler-T Grips that I'll enjoy on minimal outings. But, I can now comfortably carry a Ruger SP101 with stout .357Mag loads with a smile on face (they ain't for show, these are for comfort and managing recoil).

A new version of an old classic
I have been an avid shooter for decades. And, while a majority of my semi-auto pistols have had sufficient grips right out of the box, almost every single revolver I've ever owned has needed an upgrade in the grip department. I have noticed that there are two main camps when it comes to aftermarket grips; the Hogue fans, and the Pachmayr fans. I am definitely in the Pachmayr camp. Hogue grips are great looking, but a bit narrow for my mitts. Pachmayr always seems to have the right grip(s) for the job. Enter the Pachmayr diamond pro series. I wasn't interested specifically in the diamond pro's, but they were the only Pachmayr grip available for the Ruger SP 101. When they arrived I immediately installed them and took my Ruger out to the range. I wasn't completely enamored with the feel of the diamond pro grips (I've grown quite fond of the old school Pachmayr three finger groove for K and L frame revolver, and pinky finger groove for the J frame revolvers). The rubber grips were a little bulky in the width, and have a weird swell at the bottom, but after putting the first five rounds of 158 grain .357 down range I was immediately sold on the diamond pro's. I have probably shot several thousand rounds through my Ruger SP 101 in the last couple of decades since I purchased it. All with the original flat backed, squarish, rubber grips with the plastic inserts. I have never really put that much thought into recoil, it's just a by-product of making things go bang. But Holy Cow! The diamond pro grips absorb a substantial amount of perceived recoil out of the gun. It made me immediately wonder why I put up with the SP101's stock grips for so many years. The diminutive frame Ruger chambered in .357 still packs a wallop, but it is such a joy to shoot with the diamond pro's, that I barely even notice it now. And with .38's loaded into the Ruger, recoil is not even worth mentioning. If you are looking to make a significant upgrade to your Ruger SP101, diamond pro grips are definitely something you should consider.

Great function, but difficult to install
Depending on the individual frame, this can be hard to install. The factory grip comes off and goes back on easily but this was incredibly tight. Requiring heating up with a hair dryer for several minutes, putting it on, taking it off, repeated about 4 times. Once on, however, it has a fantastic feel and softens recoil considerable.
