Great Hay
I have bought this brand before, I’m just buying a smaller box as my previous (larger) rabbit passed and I have a smaller rabbit now. I don’t use it nearly as fast. The hay is great. It ALWAYS smells fresh and looks green. I have NEVER had a problem with musty or brown hay! Don’t just take my word for it though, the proof is in the rabbit! All three of my bunnies have loved this brand of hay.Yes, it is a bit pricier than the popular mass produced pet store brands. But, considering the quality and freshness, it’s worth it. Less wasted chaff and odd bits as well.

Great hay, superb packaging and great value!
Great product, great value. My piggies love it! I love it is not super compressed into a bag, so it is easy to pull out to refill without poking my hands on super compressed hay block. It is just jammed into the box, so once you open it it is fluffy.

Great quality & price!
The media could not be loaded. My rabbits absolutely love the taste of this hay! When you open the box, the amazing smell of fresh cut hay hits you immediately! It is great quality. Looks & smells very fresh, it's soft & beautifully green. The hay is cut in nice long, hardy pieces. There is a small amount of dust in the box, as to be expected, but it's a very reasonable amount. This box will last my two rabbits a good while, I've been feeding it for a week now & haven't really even made a dent in it! I'll definitely be a repeat customer! 👏🏻

Our To-Go Timothy Hay for the Bun-Bun
We are hoomans to a very picky bun, no doubt due to his background prior to being rescued by the local SPCA (a 4H hoarding case where he had no access to space, crammed into a wire cage with other rabbits, and dirty hay). We tried all types of Timothy Hay, even Oxbow, but it wasn't fresh and Bun-Bun wasn't going to be tricked. Nope, none of that.Fast forward to Small Pet Select: we found them online after conducting research and went with the 2nd cutting Timothy Hay. When it arrived, we were pleased to see that it was still green, fresh, and didn't have a lot of dust. Sometimes with the other brands, the leaves are almost powdered. Not in this case, Bun-Bun was busy jumping into the box just to get at the Timothy Hay. Score! We have never had any issues with our orders, love this company that not only partners with local farmers, but also ensures their product is fresh, clean, and picked/stored right to support the ongoing diets of our furry friends.Great value for the money, excellent Timothy Hay that is fresh and crunchy, delivery through Amazon is quick and rated 10 stars by Bun-Bun! Thank you for being there for us!

So disappointed-used to be good
UPDATE:MAY 2024: Be warned!! I gave this hay another try because I was low on hay and needed to get more (besides what is offered in local stores) very quickly. Gave it to my buns, was gone 12 hrs at work and when I returned home that night, the hay was untouched. Neither bun had eaten all day, so we wound up in the ER for stasis and I nearly lost one of them. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this needs to be said. My bunnies love Small Pet Select, but there is something wrong with this hay. When I buy 2nd cut directly from SPS, they eat it. When I buy their "Value" hay from Amazon, they refuse it. Is it how it is stored at Amazon warehouse? Is it something with the "value" hay? Don't risk losing your bunnies with this hay. It's not value hay if you wind up spending $5000 to save 2 bunnies in one week. I will only buy the hay directly from now on, but hope that someone looks into this ASAP so no one else goes through what I just did. :-( (I notified SPS in hopes they look into it)JAN 2024: I've bought this "value" hay several times and it had lots of dust, but was fine to eat. Normally Small Pet Select is one of the best hays I've found. The order I received early January 2024 cannot even be considered to be 2nd cut timothy hay! It is all soft, curly, brown, and dusty. So far I've found only 4 strands of long, fresh green timothy hay in the entire 8lb box. From lots of other reviews in Dec 2023/Jan 2024, it sounds like it's just not what it used to be.

Great value with good quality; a great choice to mix in with your preferred hay
The media could not be loaded. n the video you will see Dixie choosing to munch this value hay - to the left of her is orchard hay and to her right is my usual first cut Timothy hay - all from SPS. The following compare the value hay against the regular first cut Timothy Hay I usually buy:Color - value hay was paler and more yellow/brown than the deeper more green/yellow 1st cut.Aroma - some but not as much as with the 1st cut.Texture- this hay is dryer and coarser feeling. It did not have as much of the leftover “dust” that comes with first cut which is a bonus - that hay dust gets wasted, makes a mess, and sets off my smoke alarms!Taste- at first I felt my four bunnies did not eat the hay as much as with their normal hay but this video shows that Dixie actually chose this hay to munch on and indeed they all did continue to eat it. So, I give just a slight edge to the regular first cut in this area.Poop-after several days on this value hay, I saw no changes or problems with their poop.Cost - this is less expensive than the regular first cut.Overall- I find the regular hay to be fresher, greener, and more aromatic; I feel the buns get more excited when I open the box however they all ate the value hay with no problems. My plan is to mix this in with my other purchases to stretch my money a bit without sacrificing quality or eating pleasure. If you were to choose this as your exclusive hay, just keep an eye on your buns to make sure they are eating and pooping as usual. I would not expect a problem based on my experience. Thank you SPS for a great new option to choose from.

Good but Dust
The media could not be loaded. For my 23rd purchase I received a poor batch of hay that contained majority dust and brown dried up hay which caused Mochi to have weepy eye. He never had any issues before, and no problem after I started picking out the decent pieces instead of giving handfuls at a time. He still loves eating this hay compared to other brands. Value & freshness I rate it a 4 but due to recent quality… overall an average 3.
