ARRIS SURFboard mAX WiFi Router, AC1750

Update! What I thought was a router issue turned out to be a system issue with my Inter net Service Provider! I'm leaving the text of my initial review here. If you experience the issues I describe, contact your service provider and insist that they check the upstream and downstream connections for your service. This router worked well for almost two years. I've had to replace it though because it would keep dropping connections, causing both the router and modem to reboot quite often.

I have no complaints about the coverage or reliability of this router. Went from a much less reliable previous router to only needing to reset when trying to figure out why the connection went bad and having it turn out my internet provider is actually the one having issues on their end. My one setup was in the basement of a tall four story house with relatively thick architecture, with no problems connecting from either third floor bedroom on 5G or 2.4G bands. Even close nearby neighbors haven't created interference or dropped signal on either of my two laptops or my cell phone during my 9 months of ownership. Had two TV streaming devices, up to three cell phones, two computers through wifi, and a third computer directly wired in. Only had issues with traffic when running up against the maximum bandwidth of my ISP. Streaming while downloading on another computer was otherwise a nonissue.

Easy setup took about two minutes. Works great. My internet has been even faster than expected. Definitely worth trying.

works. came on time and as described. it needed a modem to fully work correctly. I did not know I needed the modem to make it work. I will have to replace it with a modem/router to meet my needs. For those people with a modem already it is a good thing to purchase. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for me.

Same brand that makes comcast modems you pay 10-15 monthly rental fees for. Well worth the purchase. I have a ridiculous amount of devices connected without any issues. Super happy with the modem/router bundle. Will easily save hundreds of dollars avoiding fees. Seamlessly connected to xfinity service.

This is a great budget router for the price. Basically the same as the arris modems but just the router part. easy interface, no nonsence app or account needed to use it. Wireless is dual band AC and signal strength is pretty good. Only have had it installed for a couple weeks but so far so good. Will report back in a few months about reliability.

Decent router. I wanted some additional access points to extend coverage. Device works, but I would have random dropouts every hour or two while running remote desktop to my office computer. So, this device should work fine for a lot of people, but I ended up returning it due to the connection lags/drops. Docking one star because I couldn't set up all devices with same ssid. Docking another star because the firmware didn't have some settings that I wanted and hasn't been updated since June 24, 2016. One setting I wanted was more control over dhcp, like pointing to a different router. Docking another star for the random connection drops through the day. If you're surfing the web or streaming and 99% uptime is good enough, this is a good one to get. If you require 100% uptime with no connection drops, go with a different model.

Router worked for a few months great and then started resetting itself every couple minutes or when I tried to use the internet on wifi. Tried troubleshooting with Arris help desk but they weren't able to diagnose. My old router still works fine so I'm sure it's just the router and not my service provider. Will be getting a replacement and will update if it's any better or if it fails again.

I'm a tech guy and I've tried every type of wireless router to still have to reboot the bloody thing every other day and when they are working fine they are very choppy and unreliable with a weak signal. I got the idea to buy this router because my cable company uses them and I've never had an issue when I've had one, so I'd give this a go, and it worked. From the point that I connected it all my problems were solved and has a great range - even when you don't have the highest signal, you still get seamless service which wasn't the case for the other routers I had tried. If you think your internet is the problem, try changing your router to one of these first to be sure, that's what I was thinking until I got this router, now superfast. I'd consider this brand professional grade.
