Moen 1222B, One Size, 1

Exactly what was promised.
This came in a sealed case with all the appropriate markings. Inside was the white plastic removal tool, some lube for the soft goods, instructions and the cartridge. I'd watched some YouTube videos and a lot of them said the included plastic removal tool was useless and to buy a Moen or danco removal tool(mixed reviews on which is better between the two[one costs less but I don't know if it's just less expensive or cheaper]). Also after reading reviews for this product, I was worried that this cartridge wouldn't come with the plastic removal tool so I bought the Moen tool with this cartridge as a just in case. However, I didn't even have to open the Moen tool. I followed the included instructions except instead of going in one direction like the instructions said, I turned it clockwise until it got real hard to turn but hadn't cleared the body and then went the other direction until it almost came out but got hard to turn again and then back in the original direction and voila. The cartridge spun freely. I just had to grab a set of pliers and with a little bit of force it pulled right out. Now on the install the cartridge went almost all the way in but just shy of being able to re-install the clip. I couldn't get it fully installed without the help of a 3/8 drive deep socket and a gentle tap with a hammer. I used a socket big enough to go around the brass post but not to big to make contact with the body the cartridge goes inside of and a couple of gentle taps on the back of the socket it slid into place. Don't push on the brass post/strike it. Pushing on the brass post/tapping on it may push the core out. The core doesn't really pop out that easy(could also be because it's old,I didn't try disassembling the new one). I tried it on the old cartridge because I was thinking about rebuilding it to have a spare. Either way just wanted to point that out. All in all an easy fix, thanks to a well thought out product. Also as another note if you bought the Moen fixture and still have the receipt you can get a cartridge free of charge from Moen. Just give them a call. They have a lifetime warranty on their products. I tried but my fixtures came with the house I bought so I didn't have a receipt to email to them. Also doesn't hurt to give them a call and see if they'll send you one without a receipt... The worst they can say is "no" and then you just come back to Amazon and buy this product and call it a day.

Makes shower handle like new
When the handle gets stiff or hard to adjust the hot/cold setting, it's usually the cartridge that needs replacing. I've replaced all PosiTemp shower handles with the 1222 with good results. The "B" simply means it was part of a contractor pack vs. individual retail. You get all the same parts in the package with the "B" variant.I highly recommend using the cartridge puller since the existing cartridge can be pretty hard to remove if it's been in the faucet for many years. The unit I received had leaked out all the silicone before it arrived, but I was able to use my pool silicone lubricant on the rubber pieces.

Is as described but has issues
This item was as described but the one I received was supposed to include a packet with lubricant, but when I opened the sealed package the lubricant pack was open and had leaked out completely and soaked into the instruction paper. So I had no lubricant to install it, which with this type of cartridge it is required.I will have to make a special trip to one of the big box stores to buy lubricant so I can use this.**** UPDATE ****This only lasted about 3 weeks before my bathtub faucet is now leaking worse than it did before I replaced it with this brand new part. Only option for support is to sit on the phone for 2hrs with Mohen.

I keep having to replace them.
I moved into my house in 2017. One year later, the shower faucet wouldn't shut off so I had to have the plumber come and replace the cartridge. Now it's 2021 and I've had to replace it AGAIN. This time, it was b/c the hot water wouldn't get hot every now and then. The sink worked fine, so I know it's not the line. And the new cartridge doesn't shut off right away. It drips for a few minutes. Eventually, it stops. But it's really annoying.

Very happy
First I am not a professional plumber. I highly recommend the following when replacing:1: Take notes /pictures as you remove parts so you re-install correctly.2: Use the Moen removal tool sold separately. Makes removing the old cartridge piece of cake while it is near impossible without that tool.3: Use a flash light after removing the old cartridge to make sure no parts are still left inside and remove before installing the new cartridge. Finally I fixed that many year old leak. Very happy

Did the trick
My shower was not adjusting the temperature properly. I replaced this cartridge and now it's fine. The old cartridge was difficult to remove. the removal tool didn't really help in my case. The old cartridge had been in there for twenty years. I was able to get it out with some vice grips and some leverage. There are some YouTube videos. The shower water control works like new now.

Fixed my leaking shower head
I had a shower head that would leak on occasion at random times. Read that replacing this valve would fix the problem so have it a shot, and it seems to have done the trick. One problem I had at first install was that even though I installed in the correct orientation per the directions, the valve wasn't correct and wouldn't work right. I took it back out and saw the internal valve in this part was at a different orientation than the old one. So I had to take the internal valve out of the new part and rotate it around to match the old one and reinstall. That worked for me and has been leak free since I installed a couple months ago.

Works like it's supposed to
My brother installed this new cartridge with no issues at all. Just make sure when you pull out the old cartridge that all of the rubber gripping on the sides are removed from inside the pipe. My brother was a plumber so he knew that, but said he also experienced a lot of cartridge replacements that the handyman didn't realize and left it in there, then you don't get a tight seal.

Perfect replacement worked like a charm...read my suggestion though!!
Ok, this product did exactly what it was supposed to do it was easy to install and included all that I needed including a healthy supply of grease to make the job smoother.Ok on to my suggestion. IF you have HARD WATER and the shower you are going to be working on is more than 5 years old my heartfelt suggestion is that you get a MOEN cartridge puller/extractor BEFORE starting the job. I did not have one and had not considered the scale build-up due to hard water in my area and as a result, the blasted cartridge was stuck solid and I mean solid. At one point I thought I was going to pull the pipes out of the wall LOL.Yes they are not cheap, I paid $31 at the depot to get mine but it worked like magic and with 1/100th the effort and way less swearing the cartridge came out with just a few grunts. Much Easier

Take pictures as you disassemble.
This product worked great. Don't pay someone an arm and a leg to do it for you. Do it yourself.Take pictures at every step of disassembly because small details count. Take your time, take pictures to follow in re-assembly and it goes pretty easy.

Product was as described. Fit perfectly with the detailed ...
Product was as described. Fit perfectly with the detailed instructions provided.Took some work to remove the old valve as the plastic piece to help remove it is too pliable. As the old valve had the metal stem broken off, had to drill in a long screw then remove with the back end of a hammer to pry it out.

The part was readily available , which was not at Box Stores.
Part was available very quickly from Amazon, Home Depot and Lowe's don't have it. To install the cartridge, you need to be a little handy and learn from youtube.Cost of part and self service saved me money, rather than calling in plumber.

Could not find it in local stores
Great price, did a swap for my client and he was happy with his hot and cold water working again.
