Using these between two PCs, one is running Windows ...
Using these between two PCs, one is running Windows 7 x64 and another is Windows 10 x64Windows 10 didn't need any drivers worked out the boxWindows 7 however required manually install a driver (https://www.amazon.com/forum/-/Tx1AI8PADAAGHMV/ref=ask_dp_dpmw_al_hza?asin=B016OYD0D4)It came with firmware v2.9.1000. Latest is v2.9.1200Although I'm not getting 10gbps, only 6gbps (730MB/s, 745MB/s with overhead transferring 20gb file), it still 6 times faster then motherboard's 1gbps where I was getting 120MB/s.Strangely though, IPERF test program shows much lower result (4.73gbps).Also,support for this model will end 2017-06-30 hens is the priceP.S.There is one issue with my setup though, Windows 7 computer is always on, Windows 10 goes to sleep time to time and every other time when it wakes up, Windows 7 doesn't sense it and shows it as cable unplugged. I have to manually disable and enable adapter to bring it back. It's probably something else related so no reason to take a star off, especially for this price.

Mellanox 10Gb Network Card It a Hit!
I was so worried that the Mellanox 10Gb network card would not work in my Server 2012 computer that I completely forgot to check whether it would work in my Server 2008 r2 computer. Sad news: It didn't. No support for Server 2008 r2 (or Vista either, I assume, since 2008 and Vista share similar guts). That was okay because I was wanting to upgrade that box anyway and with a fresh install of Server 2012, the new network card worked flawlessly. Note that I'm talking about Server 2012 and NOT 2012 r2, okay? So, I ran Windows Update and it found an updated driver for the Mellanox 10Gb card but after I installed the updated driver, the card ceased to communicate. The resolution was to revert back to the old driver (in Device Manager, of course) and the card started working again. My application of these two network cards was to connect my Hyper-V Host computer to my iSCSI target computer (both running Windows Server 2012). The iSCSI computer is running with an Intel i5 processor and the Hyper-V host is running an old i3 processor. The reason I wanted the faster network card was because, once a week, I copy all my virtual machine files from my host computer to a backup disk on the iSCSI target. These files are anywhere from 15- to 50GB in size. Whereas this backup operation used to take upwards of an hour per week, with the addition of this network card and an SSD disk on the back end, I'm able to cut the time by more than half.I'm happy I made the transition.

Great for backhaul/server to server connections! Good price!
I bought a pair of these with this great deal about 6 months ago and just got around to installing and connecting the pair as a point-to-point link between two computers for file transfer. They worked right out of the box on Linux Mint (Ubuntu) with no special driver install needed and really offer astounding performance compared to gig-E when transferring large files. I have no idea why the illustration on the page for this item has changed to a can opener!

Card worked in both Windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.04 without special driver or tweak.
This card is a Mellanox-branded (not third-party OEM). Cards worked fine in Windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.04 out of the box. I did need to make sure I was putting this card into an x8 slot, with x8 bandwidth available. Used the middle slot of a Z97-Gaming 5 mobo. Until I moved the card, iperf was topping out around 1.6gbps consistently, likely because of limited slot bandwidth. Came with 2.9.1000 firmware, upgraded to latest 2.9.1200. Download firmware and MST TOOLS from Mellanox's site. "mlxup" auto-online-firmware-upgrader is not compatible with these cards. I upgraded the firmware in both Windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.04 without issue. Used Mellanox's MC3309130-002 Passive Copper Cable Ethernet 10GbE 10Gb/s SFP+ 2m. This is a DAC cable with two SFP+'s. Connected these cards to a two-port Mellanox 10g card. DAC cable was quickly detected.

Fast data transfer, but for those who are seeking for better response time, please read...
I bought the two cards for my streaming setup. the goal was to improve data transfer in addition of trying to reduce even more from the response time between the computers.I used the latest Mellanox drivers for windows 10, and updated both of the cards firmware (not hard task as some might describe, but you do need to use a command based tool).Data transfer were as expected, write and read were ~900MB, which was my HD limitation on the streaming PC.Where I was a bit disappointed was the response time, which was equal to the LAN-Router-LAN setup, with slower random peaks (see screens).I'm giving this 5 starts, as no one actually committed for better response time, but for those who were wondering, now we have an answer. (at least based on my setup)p.s.Using a 2 meter cable for Mellanox.

Plug it in and go! Inexpensive 10G for great performance!
These Mellanox cards are great additions for servers or high-bandwidth computers in your network. Plug it in and go, they're supported in VMWare ESXi (5.5 and 6.7), and in CentOS, Ubuntu, and Windows. I've bought several of these cards and they never disappoint. Make sure to use either Mellanox or Cisco coded SFPs and you're good to go!

Fantastic Deal
Great deal. Thanks to this I have 10Gbe for the first time in my home. I did it peer-to-peer without a network switch too.I did hack some custom firmware to it so it was more updated. And it had a boot ROM that stalls bootup for a few seconds that took some time to figure out how to get rid of. I would buy this again if it was offered for similar price.

Works perfectly!
Bought a pair of these, put them into a couple of boxes running CentOS7, connected via the 2 SFP+ ports on my 48-port managed Ubiquity switch. Things worked right out of the box, I did not have to install anything, or change anything (well, other than the DHCP mapping).Awesome price too!

10 gig networking on the cheap.
It was a little dusty, when it arrived, but it worked fine for month now. Also, you need to pair a capable CPU with 10G equipment (4 cores or more recommended).
