The only change in my diet was this pill, and I went down seven points in less than six months
In the course of the past couple of years since I’ve taken my last blood work, I was at about 214. The only change that I’ve made was adding this to my diet and I went down seven points. That’s a lot for not being horribly consistent with us. Only thing that could have changed with me taking this during meals. I’m still currently using it and when I get my next blood work and six months, I am going to submit my findings.

Lots of articles supporting red rice yeast effectiveness to lower cholesterol
UPDATE: Got my blood work back after taking 1 pill a day for 2 weeks. My HDL went up more, LDL went down and so did my triglycerides. I am certain it is helping.ORIGINAL: I’ve been doing a lot of research on red yeast rice to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. I’m borderline high on both these health factors, though my good cholesterol is high. RYR may also reduce inflammation and have anti cancer properties though more research is needed. The recommended dose of red yeast rice is 1200 mg taken twice daily with food. Two of Dr. Martin’s RYR pills have 1400 mg. Researchers do not know whether it’s safe to use red rice yeast for longer than 12 weeks, people with/or at risk for liver disease should not take this supplement. If you do your research, there are lots of warnings for those who should not take this product, including people with kidney disease thyroid problems, musculoskeletal disorders or people who drink more than two alcoholic beverages a day. RYR is best taken before you go to bed, on a full or empty stomach, this is because the body produces more cholesterol at night. There are a several medications and supplements you should avoid while taking RYR, and avoid taking with grapefruit products. Red rice yeast can affect sleep and can also produce muscle pain and weakness similar to conventional statins. RYR may also deplete CoQ10 from the body. I plan to take one pill every other day and will update after by upcoming bloodwork though they say it takes 12 weeks to see benefits. So far a week has gone by and I have no side affects. My blood pressure was great yesterday but that could be unrelated. I have a dr appt and blood work due in a few weeks. This bottle is enormous and only half full. Not sure why manufacturers do this as it takes up too much space in my cabinet. Vitamin B3 or niacin might be a good alternative. As always talk to your doctor.

I’ve had positive results with Red Yeast Rice and my cholesterol
I’ve been taking Red Yeast Rice for a little over a year and noticed that my cholesterol lab results showed a positive trend since starting to take them.I am new to the Dr. Martin’s version but am pleased with them so far. I like that it is made in the USA and offers 100% satisfaction guarantee. This particular brand offers 1400 mg per 2 capsules which is 200 mg more than the brand I had been purchasing at Costco. The bottle does say that one can take up to 4 capsules in a 24 hour period but I have only known the dose to be 2 capsules daily. It comes in a capsule form whereas the one from Costco is a tablet. I find these easier to swallow as a capsule and have not noticed any aftertaste or regurgitation from them. There is minimal smell to them as well.I ordered these on 7/26/22 and the expiration date on the bottle is 3/25. There are 180 capsules in the bottle so at 2 a day the bottle will last me 3 months. At $15 a bottle it works out to $5 a month, not bad.

Good Supplement
I buy Red Yeast Rice capsules for my husband to help him keep his cholesterol levels in the healthy range so I know it works. When I saw this red yeast rice powder supplement available for review I immediately selected it. His cholesterol levels tend to run a little high but not high enough for statins and we both think the red yeast rice is helping. Red yeast rice is a natural statin that I think is a lot safer to take than pharmaceutical statins but please don't substitute this, or take this if you're already taking statin drugs. This supplement appears to be very good quality and is some that I have purchased in the past with good results.

If you can’t tolerate Statins
I use these, garlic, and plant sterols. I have hereditarily based high LDL and have been prescribed two statins in the past. Both made me tired and gave me bad muscle pain. I am in the process of experimenting with alternative ways to lower my cholesterol. I have had my annual physical yet this year so I won’t know until I do my labs. I update when I do.
