Q: looks like the lid has screws on the outside so it can unscrewed and removed with the door still locked?

No. The top cannot be removed without unlocking it first. The screws are an extra locking mechanism that keep the cover in place even when the lockbox is unlocked whereas other lockboxes that do not have the screws can have the top removed when the lockbox is unlocked.

Q: Why won't the fan run? Just bought two and either fan is moving.

Hello edward, we apologize for the inconvenience that this issue may have caused you. The fan is normally plug and play. There is no polarity for the power connections so you can connect the power cable either way. Have you tried to connect directly to a wall outlet or a different wall outlet? If nothing works, we can send you a replacement fan and power cable. Please send an email to support@kenuco.com or at so we can work something out together to fix this issue for you.

Q: Can it be stored on its side?

It’s a metal box, so you can put it however you’d like. The issue will be ventilation. Just make sure you don’t cover the vents and make sure you don’t cover the vents from the equipment that you’ll put inside. It will get hot quick. If you plan on mounting to the wall, remember that it will need a slight gap to open the door, I would say some strips of 1x2 in between the wall and the box should give you enough space to open the door properly.

Q: Is the fan on this lock box a 4 pin or if not will it work with a 4 pin?

The cooling fan is 120v AC and has a simple 2-pin electrical connection.
