TUINCYNDC12V License Plate LED Light Universally Used VW/Golf MK6 MK7 /Passat B7 CC Scirocco 35D 943 021 A Led Super White Driving Lamp (Pack of 2)

I put in some Sylvania LED bulbs in the trunk lid but after a few seconds they flicker and go out and the car would say license bulb out on the dash. I ordered these LED housings and installed them and they work perfect and no errors. The install was a little bit of a pain since you have to take the trunk lid apart and the chrome trim (Mercedes really over-engineers their cars) but once I got them installed I was happy. They really make the car look more luxurious since the old yellow bulbs just made the car look cheap. I'm picky about lighting and since the car has LED tail lights and HID headlights, I'm surprised Mercedes didn't use LED license plate housings from the factory. Some people could care less but I like nice crisp lighting on my car's exterior. Makes it look like a new car.

These definitely are NOT even close to the OEM housing like some other reviews are suggesting, but it does the job on the cheap. If these bulbs go out, there's no way to change them because the housing is completely sealed off unlike the OEMs. Strangely, mine didn't require any coding but I believe the previous owner replaced the stock ones before and already coded it out. These aren't bright at all, but I prefer that over the super bright ones that will light up the entire rear bumper, so that's a plus for me.

Great fit and finish. They work great. They look like they are oem they are stamped with vw on them. Coding is required if you do not already have led plate lights or a resister installed. They give the perfect amount of light. I got some generic ones for my old GTI and they were way to bright. These are just right.

These light up a bit too well, ended up dusting the faces with some gray spray paint to not have a blinding license plate that lit up brighter than the reverse lights. Also had to do some sanding and filing to make them fit, as they were not an exact match for my A3 OEM lights (too wide on the screw side, and a bit of extra tape to keep the notch side in) also had to gently razor the foam pad in half across the whole inner face to make it thin enough to fit.A lot of work for what should have been plug and play. At least I don't get any errors (I did disable the diagnostics via VCDS previously though)

Strongly recommend against purchasing this - basically unusable as they don't properly latch on the non-screw side (regardless of any amount of trimming of the gasket, etc) - the latch is just mis-shaped compared to the original housings for this. Don't waste your money.

I purchased to replace my oem light that failed. Afterwards learned that U.S. golf/gti use incandescent bulbs and will pop a constant warning to check bulb. This would have to be have coding updated in ecu. Alternate is to get the oem bulb which isn't super common. Part is 1k8 943 021 for the unit, the socket can be removed however and bulb itself replaced. Compatible example is michiba e13 280 hmt1003cl clear 12v5w

I'm not sure if this is a Chinese knockoff, or if this is what a Chinese OEM VW part looks like (it has a VW logo and part numbers stamped on it), but this design is so close to the OEM part, and it's so cheap, that I don't care. This aims the light right at your license plate without flooding the street behind your car with unnecessary light like a lot of aftermarket LED light assemblies do. The install is also easy. For around $10, you can't go wrong.This will require VCDS or OBDeleven coding to get rid of the bulb-out warning on your dash.

Bought for a 2011 GTI and I've tried everything I can find to get rid of the fault codes with obdeleven and nothing is working.

Installed these lights on my MK7 GTI, the fit is excellent, it takes about 2 minutes to physically install the lights.The lights are bright enough (not too bright not too dim) and the color is nice and fits well with the car. To be noted that you WILL need to code the car appropriately otherwise you will have an error message in the dash, I was prepared and had the tools for that. For the price it's hard to beat !
