Not as good at the original model.
Not as good at the original model. It does nothing to style or smooth my hair which remains frizzy after a few hours. The original model was much better! Quite honestly it was a waste of money for me!

Failed to work after one month of purchase
Bought this electric hair brush after seeing it advertised in the press. I used it approx 5 times during first month since purchase after which it failed to work at all . Phoned Nicky Clarke help line. They told me to change the fuse incase that was the problem . I tried 2 new fuses with no success. I phoned back & as requested sent photos of the appliance & proof of purchase. I have asked for a refund as I am not satisfied with the goods. I don’t expect a new appliance to fail in such a short time hence I do not want a replacement. I am still waiting for a response from their head office.

Removable brush a big plus for me
Saw this product reviewed favourably in Sunday Times recently and very pleased to get a reduction in price when I checked availability on Amazon. Easy to use with long cord and for me the big plus is the removable brush for cleaning . Produce build up and hair very difficult to clean off on other hairstylers.Like being able to dry and style with one hand . Pleased with this purchase.

Exactly what I was looking for!!! 🤩
It gives a wonderful sleek and shiny finish. Perfect as I’m no good at blow drying with a hairdryer and brush. Feels like a salon finish. Love it!!!

The brush keeps falling off the holder base
Wanted to love this but I’d to stop every few seconds to stick the base back in the brush even though I had it locked in

Both Positive and Negative Points
The Nicky Clarke Frizz Control Large Barrelled Volumiser Hot Air Styler uses ionic technology to reduce frizz and features a large oval barrel designed to add volume. My hair is prone to frizz and I like to add a bit of volume to the roots so it is not completely flat so this sounded ideal. The last styler I purchased was the Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumiser and I cannot help but compare them as they are similar in many ways.Firstly, in terms of looks the Nicky Clarke one wins hands down as it is quite stylish being black with subtle metallic elements. There is not a vast difference in weight and both are comfortable to use. They both have a large oval barrel but the Nicky Clarke one is removable which makes it easier for cleaning. The fault I found with this though is the barrel would not stay in place. I lined up the arrows and heard it click but after using it for a couple of minutes it would unlock and come off. Just in case it was my hair, which is thick and can knot up despite being conditioned, I used an extra leave-in conditioner, detangling spray and smoothing serum and still it happened. This is obviously a problem and not something that I experienced with the Revlon brush as it is a fixed head. The Nicky Clarke instructions say that your hair should be more damp than wet so I tend to put my hair in a towel turban for about ten minutes and that is enough to make it less wet. This is fine but with the Revlon you can use it on just washed hair. In terms of drying they are both very similar and are good at taming frizz but the Revlon creates more volume. Finally, the Revlon is cheaper so it wins on that score.I would say the major negative was the brush unlocking and no matter what I try I cannot get it to stay in place. Also the volumising is not as great and it is more expensive. The positives are I like the look of the styler and the super long cord is great when you are not right next to a plug socket. When I use it on the lengths of my hair it works well and both curling the ends under or flicking them up works well. It is good at taming frizz and leaves hair looking and feeling smooth.

Dissapointed
I am not sure if I got faulty one, but on first use got really strong plastic smell and even on level one the head got super hot, I mean like if you would touch it with the fingers, you get burnt. It lifted my hair slightly, but nothing impressive, not as if I would be willing burn my hairs for it. Tried it on a damp hair, tried to dry it more, so leave it nearly dry and than use it, but nothing was working. As well as I am left handed, every time I twisted the brush more in my hairs, the head was keep twisting and undoing itself, was really getting kind of annoyed, especially when the tool's head is so hot. I really wanted to lift my roots and had high hopes for this, as it looked like a good quality for that price, but got really dissapointed. Not sure will I give this a second chance.
