Review: Blu-Ray is an Absolute Mastery! - Blu-Ray Quality Second to None! As you can see in the pictures (screenshots from the behind the scenes footage included on the blu-ray), the standard tapes that were used for the original airing on tube tv's of the 80's was terrible quality. CBS/Paramount spent millions to painstakingly restore the series frame by frame from the original negatives and put the series back together again, remastering color, detail, etc. It is more vibrant than ever and it must be seen on the big screen to be believed. I guarantee, if you saw the original airing on tube TV back in the 80's/90's like I did, this will knock your socks off. Only the Blu-Ray has been restored. Don't waste your money on the DVD version as it has not been restored and is the same quality on Netflix and what airs weekly on TV. If you don't own a Blu-Ray player and are considering this set, buy a Blu-Ray player with the Blu-Ray version of Star Trek TNG and experience the series the way no one has seen it before. Packaging: Comments about lack of quality, scratched discs, etc are mainly from users who have purchased the DVD version. DVD's are prone to scratching with just the lightest touch. Blu-Ray on the other hand uses a much more durable surface material that is resistant to scuffs and scratches. Withthat said, the discs fit nice and tight in their holders. Almost too tight as some discs are very difficult to remove. But I'd rather have them tight and snug than too lose and risk them falling out. Story: The story of STTNG needs no introduction or explanation, but for those who have not been fortunate enough to have seen it before, it is in my opinion the greatest series in the Star Trek franchise. It doesn't feel like a soap opera in the sense that the story from each episode does not flow from one to the next, except in two-part episodes of course. But the character development through the series is amazing and the dynamics that each of crew have with each other is amazing. There is love, there is anger, there is struggle, there is frustration, but as with any family, these are normal stages of living. What is most important is the bond they develope over the course of the series that you know no matter what, each person has the back of their shipmates. The series never gets dull as there are new friends and foes to be made throughout the series. And this is the series that the infamous Borg are first developed into the archnemesis of the Federation! If I could, I'd rate this series an 11 out of 10! Quality is unmatched in any Star Trek series aside from the new ones of the 21st century. This is a must for any Star Trek fan new to the series or lifelong fans. And as of this writing, the series on Blu-Ray is at an all-time low price, so grab it now before it goes up again! You can't get a better deal anywhere! Review: Good Value - TNG is a classic series, and this collection is pretty good. The quality isn't the best, but it's a DVD of an old show. So that's about what I expected. And, for how much content is here, the price point isn't bad. Not every episode is a winner, but I still think it's worth checking out if you like science fiction. Early TNG is a little rough around the edges, but when it hits its stride, there's a lot to love about the series. Also, it's kind of refreshing to find a science fiction series that's actually optimistic about the future. They don't really make those so often these days.

A real bummer.
Seems like a really good version of Star Trek The Next Generation to own. Sadly my copy had a manufacture defect that left some episodes unwatchable. My second try at buying this series as my dvd copy years ago had the same problem but don't think it was a official copy. I had to eat that one because I opened it years after I purchased it. This time I was not going to accept anything but a perfect copy. Sadly I did not get it. I may try again in the future as this is such an excellent version and the quality is so good on the episodes that actually played.

Excellent Collection
I'll skip the review of individual seasons and episodes because they've been covered by other reviewers. However, there has been a lot of problems with the condition of the discs in recent blu-ray orders. I just received the repackaged STNG collection and it is excellent. The box was sealed in plastic, undamaged, and though it arrived in a padded paper bag, all the discs were on their proper pegs, in order by season. Neither of the two plastic boxes were broken, nor were any of the posts or other interior elements. Each disc is in immaculate condition. There's no way I'll be able to view all 42 discs before the return period is up, so I did a random check and found no errors. The quality is high and it is fun to see STNG in such sharp detail. The discs play very nicely with my 13 year old Blu-Ray player. The menu is quite straight forward. You can play all the episodes on each disc in sequence, or one at a time, and the choices are very clear. Because multiple discs are on each peg, I ordered a 48 page DVD wallet (which came in the same order) and carefully removed each disc without scratching or otherwise marring the playing surfaces, and put them in the sleeves of the wallet. They are easier to remove and replace, even in a poorly lit room, without a big fight. It was hard to do because I have a collecting impulse, but I threw the cover box and two plastic holding boxes out. I first removed the paper insert covers of the two, which contain the names of the episodes on each disc. I had to fold them to put them in the disc wallets, but I reminded myself that the box and inserts are really not collectible. My intent is to play the series as often as I want, and then pass it on to my children. The discs aren't foreign knock-offs. If you hold them up to the light, you can see the CBS and Paramount logos within/on the discs. The repackaged collection is less expensive that the tin box version. There's no point in spending a lot of money on a box unless you intend on never opening the package. I'll never replace the discs on the pegs as it would be a pain, and potentially damaging to the disc surfaces. I received the collection In a very short time. Excellent!

Great set, lousy box
Like everyone else who complained about the box, I can only say the same. Fantastic set of discs, but the packaging makes it super-awkward to pull out any one disc as they're all double-stacked on plastic pegs that cause the discs to also overlap. So if you want to pull out, say, the first disc of some season, you need to fiddle with 4 or 5 other discs, maybe. Very lousy design choice. The discs themselves, as far as blu-ray goes, are not bad at all. Some blu-ray videos have wayyyyyy too many unskippable trailers and ads before you can actually enjoy your video. The bulk of these (besides season 1 that has a few short ads) just play a CBS logo and then go right into a menu where you can select episodes and subtitle options. I just ended up putting all the discs into a small CD/DVD binder thing for easy access to each one without having to fiddle with the lousy package that makes you feel like you're going to snap a disc in half just for moving it. The whole set is 41 discs, so if you're a hardcore fan that wants everything on physical media without the hassle of of the package, just get a binder/holder for optical discs that fits at least that many. Super-small complaint - one or two of the discs in my set had small scratches on the printed top. I was terrified that this would cause them not to play correctly, but trying them out so far they seem to be fine. TL;DR like everyone else said, if you want TNG Blu-rays, get this set but be prepared to store them in your own choice of disc-binder or holder or whatever.

Fantastic series, not a fan of the packaging!!
A fantastic series that I'm enjoying watching all over again. My only negative is the packaging, I do not like Blu-ray cases that stack 2 or more discs on the same central hub, so that discs have to be removed to access another disc. I'm sure there was a way to have each disc have it's own central hub and not have them stacked. This makes it difficult to access any of the discs.

Incredible Quality—The Ultimate Star Trek Experience!
As a longtime fan of *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, I was blown away by the Blu-ray set. The remastered picture quality is stunning—crystal clear and vibrant, making every episode feel brand new. It’s amazing how much detail you can see now, especially in the sets and costumes, that I missed watching it on TV years ago. The sound quality is equally impressive, with crisp dialogue and an enhanced soundtrack that really immerses you in the story. The bonus features are a huge highlight for me. The behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with the cast and crew, and hilarious gag reels make this set worth every penny. If you’re a fan of the series or even just getting into it, this Blu-ray set is a must-have. It’s the best way to experience *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, and I couldn’t recommend it more!
