You would need to unwrap the product for use. Any unused plastabs can be stored in a zippered bag until needed.

Safe for electronics? Such as to slow or prevent rust inside of collectibles such as old radios or computers prone to corrosion?

I'm pretty sure VCI's are not for lead. There is information that suggests it will speed up corrosion of some metals including lead and zinc. This would be a serious problem in and old radio with all of its solder joints.

Would this work on a knight helmet that’s make from18 gauge mild steel?

It depends on where you are keeping the helmet. These are designed for use in enclosed spaces like safes. Also, make sure you get the ones that will cover the whole space. There are bigger zerust tabs that protect a larger area.

Is this safe to use in the home?

I use it in the home. It emits a rust preventing vapor. I would not use it on items you contact a lot. such as a razor, since you might have an allergy or reaction to it. But, for normal hand tools, such as pliers, it works very well.
