Case-Mate Barely There Case for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - Clear

The HTC One M8 is a beautiful phone - probably one of the most beautiful on the market right now, and I say that as a convert from iPhone. However the cases available for it did a lousy job of showing off its' form. I've had two already within a month of having the phone (including the HTC official plastic sleeve) and they made the phone look ugly and discoloured, or were slippery causing the phone to be dropped, and in all cases were brittle and felt like they'd break or crack at any point (and one did). This case on the other hand is none of those things. It is hard and secure but feels less brittle and very pleasant to the touch, it clings to your skin reassuringly, yet without marking or fingerprints - and that's the real revelation of this case: it looks bloody beautiful. It is crystal clear and does not mark, so it basically looks like the M8 is encased in a layer of glass. Quite how they have combined all these properties in one product I don't know as I would have thought being clear, being grippy, and being non-marking were three things that need trade-off among one another! Evidently and brilliantly not in this particular case. It absolutely shows off the single sheet metal form of the M8 in a way that deserves to be seen. Since I've had this case people have reverted to wanting to see the phone or have had their eye caught by it, in a way that noticeably disappeared when the two prior cases were on. It's great value and a great purchase to go with the phone. My only annoyance is the subtle Case Mate logo at the bottom of the case which sits over some tiny small print on the bottom of the M8. It's not very obvious but if you have OCD it's a small blemish on what could have been perfection. Nonetheless, the best phone case I ever bought.

Very good product as expected from Case Mate

I have had this case both for my old HTC One and more recently the M9. I was very pleased with the case on the HTC One and it survived many drops from various heights over the 2 years I had it. However, on buying one for the M9 I found the inner part of the case to be harder than the one I had previously. The previous one had a silicone insert and was quite soft, good at absorbing shocks and bumps but the one I purchased for the M9 appears to be a lot harder and more rigid. There must have been a change in material when they designed the newer cases. I'm not sure how well this will compare the previous one I spoke very highly of, I guess only time will tell. Other than that the case fits very well and the buttons interact perfectly with the ones on the phone.

It's a great case. Very snug fitting. A good sized lip protects the screen, all cutouts are spot on and the IR blaster works perfectly with the case on, It makes the phone easier to hold with the grippy texture and looks pretty classy too. People have complained about the clear cover for the power button depressing the power button and I did experience this at first. However, if you inter the top of the phone first and make sure the buttons are aligned, and then put the hard shell on from the top first everything stays nicely aligned and the potential problem is avoided. I use this in combination with a glass screen protector (Samar) and there is still a good 1mm lip keeping the glass off the desk. For less than a tenner this is a real bargain and don't think there's much competition at this quality/price point.

The HTC One M8 is my third consecutive HTC handset, but the Case-Mate Barely There Case is the first non-HTC accessory case I've bought. The HTC silicone case that comes as standard with the M8 is not great (mine started to fray quite noticeably after fairly minimal use) and it also doesn't show off what is a beautiful-looking phone to maximum effect. This Case-Mate case does exactly that and more - it looks simply stuning in my view - I just wish I'd bought it sooner. I can't quite understand why anyone would say 'Don't buy this case' as someone has in a previous review - it looks superb, fits very easily and securely, leaves no scratches to the phone casing whatsoever and all the handset controls, volume etc are easily accessible. My only minor criticism is that the case is quite slippery to hold compared to a silicone case as one or two other reviews have mentioned - for example it does tend to roll around a bit if left on or around a car seat or dashboard, but no huge issues. Buy it and I pretty much guarantee you won't regret it. Special kudos to Amazon too for a remarkably quick delivery service - I ordered the case on Tuesday 5th August via their free Super Saver Delivery service and it was delivered on the 7th - around two to three days early. Very impressive!

I've had Case-Mate cases for my phones for the past 8 years and I've always been extremely satisfied. They were expensive, but did a great job and with an pricey phone, I considered the extra expense worthwhile. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Case-Mate have now dropped the price and more importantly, the quality of their cases. I paid £12 or so for this case. My last one cost in the region of £30 and boy does it show. Instead of a silicon liner, there is now an awful plasticky thing, which admittedly fits the phone well, but is stiffer, has sharp dots from casting and being much firmer than the cases of old, is likely far less shock absorbent. It's also slippery and the button actuators are now cheap plastic instead of precision silicon mouldings. Case-Mate, why? You had such a good product, it's now average at best. Whereas I'd have recommended this brand without hesitation previously, I no longer will and I'm on the look out for something that feels a little nicer in the hand.

I like the case overall (just received it yesterday). I think it'll do what I bought it for - to protect my phone in case of a drop, even if dropped on the front (case is slightly elevated and a 'tough rubber' material so think it would be fine to also absorb the shock or angle of a fall). The only problem I have noticed thus far with the case is on the side where the opening is for the up/down volume key/button. It's not conducive to be able to seamlessly press the button up or down to adjust sounds. You need to use your fingernail or something similar to get to the button. The opening there needs to be bigger probably. Otherwise, at this point.. yes.. I'd recommend this item to another.

J'ai acheté le Xperia Z3 compact il y a 1 mois à peine, et depuis je ne cherche qu'à protéger ce bijou avec une coque esthétique, qui ne glisse pas, solide et sobre. Bon ben voilà. J'ai fait des recherches partout, commandé une 1ère coque semi-rigide qui m'a déçu (ho ça elle était pas chère c'est sûr), et puis je me suis lancé sur celle-ci, à 26 euros ça fait mal mais si c'est pour la garder 2 ans pourquoi pas! Résultat: la tenue en main est très bonne, on n'appuie pas sur le bouton de volume toutes les 2 secondes sans le vouloir, elle a la classe (j'ai le xperia Z3 blanc avec le thème gris, c'est très beau), elle paraît robuste (pas envie de faire un test pour vérifier :-) mais franchement elle est rassurante avec ses renforts et les matières utilisées), elle s'installe le plus simplement du monde et sublime ce téléphone qui n'en avait déjà pas besoin. Je suis très content de mon achat et vous le seriez aussi si vous craquiez pour ce modèle. Livré en 5 jours avec week-end au milieu, on enlève le film protecteur et zou c'est parti pour une utilisation agréable de son smartphone. Je recommande +++

It is really a unique product,being made for safety for so costly product.

Case-Mate propose comme toujours un design très réussi, ne raye pas le smartphone contrairement à d'autre étui silicone ou TPU qui avec le temps frotte le smartphone et provoque un effet gommage sur celui-ci (avec trace de brillance sur le satiné par exemple, j'ai déjà rencontré le cas à plusieurs reprises). Ce problème ne risque pas d'arriver pour plusieurs raison : la qualité du silicone employé est très douce mais surtout celui-ci comporte une coque rigide qui maintient parfaitement le silicone en place. Au niveau de la protection, celui-ci est parfaitement résistant pour amortir les chocs en cas de chute. La prise en main est excellente.
