Excellent quality - high caffeine content genmaicha
This is a very high quality genmaicha. Typical genmaicha is made with lower grade green tea like bancha, which has less caffeine and EGCG than sencha. But this genmaicha is made with high grade fukamushi sencha - no cheap bancha here. The genmaicha has a really nice sweet and fragrant aroma, and you can really tell that the sencha used is excellent quality. Because this tea uses high quality sencha (not bancha) it has high caffeine, probably 80% as much as regular Japanese sencha has. Genmaicha is slightly lower in caffeine because it's diluted with toasted rice - but when it's made with first-flush sencha, it will still have a high caffeine content unlike genmaicha made with bancha. The tea used in this is deep steamed (fukamushi) sencha, so the leaves are finely broken, almost powdery. That's not an indication of poor quality, but is just the nature of deep steamed sencha - the longer steaming process causes the leaves to become broken. So ideally to brew this tea you will use a kyusu or teapot with a fine mesh to strain out some of the small tea leaves. But if your cup looks extra green, that's not a problem - just enjoy.Be aware that fukamushi sencha brews very quickly because the leaves are finely broken (30 seconds for 1st steep)My steeping Instructions:165F - 250grams water / 7.5 grams tea1st Infusion: 45 seconds,2nd infusion: 45 seconds3rd infusion: 175F 60 seconds,4th infusion: 212F 10+ minutes.Thoughts:This is really excellent genmaicha. It's sweet, mild, and a perfect balance of toasted rice nuttiness and sweet and vegetal sencha. This is definitely one of the better quality genmaichas I have tried before.

Although this tea wasn't for me, it might be for you.
Although I do like bitter taste, this one was a little much for me. I believe the brown rice gave it a flavor I didn't appreciate much. I never had sweetener to my tea but in order not to waste my cup I did add some honey to balance it (lots of honey). My younger niece did however enjoy the bitterness and thought the rice aspect was nice. I will not be purchasing again but maybe my niece will!

Tasty Tea With Great Smell
I love a tea that is not only bold in taste but has a pleasant smell to it. This is where this tea shines and has good flavor to come with it.Quality:I steeped this genmaicha at 175 degrees for 1.5 minutes. The aroma was pleasant with a visible yet not over-pronounced nuttiness to the rice. Typically a tea for the colder months, but given that it is currently summertime I have iced the last two brews. The tea has held up really well into the third steep, and the quality definitely surpasses that of your typical supermarket genmaicha both there and in taste.Overall, I think it provides decent value at this price point, and would recommend it for tea-drinkers who like an intermediate amount of rice in their genmaicha.

A premium Japanese green tea with exquisite flavor and aroma, rewards multiple infusions
This Sencha is steamed in the Fukamushi, or "deep-steamed" style that is the characteristic style of southern Shizuoka. Shizuoka Prefecture is Japan's preeminent tea growing region and is responsible for more than 40% of Japan's overall tea production. But it's more than the quantity of production that makes Shizuoka such an esteemed tea growing region, it's the high quality of green tea that's produced there that gives the region its cachet. The area's "deep-steamed" style usually finishes with a high heat roasting (2 or 3 times greater than or from 60-120 seconds longer than the usual Sencha roasting period) which brings out a much richer aroma, and that strong, long-lasting (though occasionally indefinable) umami finish that is consistently intense even after multiple steepings.I routinely infuse these magnificent Sencha green teas 3-4 times without losing any of their intensely vegetal flavor: a flavor that usually retains its depth, complexity and sweetness throughout multiple steepings, thus giving these pricey green teas much greater value and making them something of a high-quality bargain. This green tea is also grown in soil to which sugarcane has been added, making it taste just a little bit sweeter without upsetting the tea's exquisite balance of flavor. And because roasted brown rice has also been added to this Genmaicha style tea, it has a warm, nutty flavor that adds a great deal of depth and complexity: but the roasted brown rice also moderates the natural astringency of this intensely flavored green tea. It is mild and easy on the stomach with reasonable caffeine levels.I love Sencha teas, and when they are created with as much care as this one is, they are one of the world's finest teas of any variety. Most highly recommended.

Delicious tea
This genmaicha is a delicious blend of fukamushi sencha green tea and roasted popped brown rice. I steep a teaspoon of this in a cup of 175° hot water for 1 minute. It has a smooth, mellow, vegetal flavor with a nice hint of roasted rice. Not astringent or bitter. The aroma is light but pleasant. It feels gentle and soothing for the stomach, which makes it a good tea to drink after dinner. This comes in a resealable, foil-lined bag. The ingredients are green tea, and brown rice. The loose tea leaves appear to be of high quality and fresh. Product of Japan. Overall, I really enjoy this genmaicha. Smooth and easy to drink. Great flavor and nice aroma. At about $0.30 per serving, it is a good value for the money. I'd recommend giving it a try. Good product.
