Sweet were underrated rock band, was lucky enough to see them live several times. Great collection sounding even better on vinyl. This was an Amazon returned item, some slight creasing to the outer sleeve but vinyl Mint, all at discounted price. Superb!

The CD arrived on time as expected. What is there to say? It is a compilation of their greatest music. if you are a Sweet fan, but do not have all of their music CDs, this one is great to have, especially the early stuff that were released as singles.

Sweet is always described as a glam rock band due to their outfits, but they are really a hard rock band with great versatility. Throughout the 3 disc set you find songs that may remind you of the following bands: Bowie, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, ABB, ELO, and even early Iron Maiden (pre-Bruce) and AC/DC. Sweet had enormous flexibility in how to approach songs as all four members could actually sing. It is mostly guitar based R&R with nods to all the rock movements of the 70's, reggae, keyboard based, funk rock, and some songs from the late 70's that evoke Yardbirds and Beatles. I grew up with Desolation Boulevard and always loved Ballroom Blitz and Fox on the Run, and it was great to discover all these other awesome songs they did throughout the years. Sound quality is great, clean and crisp and a step above the Original Album Series recordings which I commonly purchase. So many great songs like Tom Tom Turnaround, Santa Monica Sunrise, Papa Joe and many others. Sweet is a bit eclectic, and the songs range from one about a school crossing guard (Lollipop Man), and another song explaining how the telephone was invented just so he could talk to girls (Alexander Graham Bell). Sweet was one of the greatest bands of the 70's you may not remember, and this three-disc set is a great way to explore their catalog. I have this up against the Door's live at the Matrix 1967 3 disc set and it is a fairly seamless transition between the two, even though the music is quite different. Highly recommended.
