Absolute Fascinating
I have fallen into a royal rabbit hole, and I am not sure I can climb out. The problem is I keep reading extraordinary books such as this one.I must admit, I am one of those slightly puzzled persons scratching their heads over this whole episode in the royal circus. Why would they do this? What is their motivation for the stuff they do/say? How has it all come to this? And this book goes a very long way to explain that. This book is extremely well researched and written, with a depth to the lives within which makes everyone involved living, breathing people rather than cardboard characters who do things for no reason. Although, as the author admits, it is difficult to write a book about someone without direct access to them; Tom does a great job of trying to present issues and emotions from other points of views. This is not a hatchet job against the Duchess of Sussex, but neither is is a fawning cover up either. Where recollections have varied, he has given factual evidence. Where an individual, or indeed institution has gone wrong, the author is not afraid to level criticism at them; whether it is Meghan, her father, the palace or the royal family - he has boldly stated what he thinks went wrong.I went into this thinking one way, and although this book has not changed my mind, it has softened it. I understand motives and actions in a way that you cannot get from a tweet or a soundbite or newspaper column/article. Also, with hindsight comes the whole story not just the headline. Chief among his criticisms is the lack of substance of the Sussex's - there is no doubt that Meghan is an intelligent, determined and hardworking woman - lots of qualities to admire her for - but writing flowery language which says nothing of substance or saying you are doing something but not actually being able to show that what you have done has made a difference to peoples lives are two different things. I read sections of this book rooting for Meghan, she increased in my estimation quite a bit, but she has also let herself down with tales which are easily fact checked or change every so often.I believed she would do so much for the royal family when she first appeared on the scene - and I have come out of this thinking that Meghan believed this also - only the other way round. And boy did she succeed. If you too are currently residing in a royal rabbit hole , then I highly recommend this book to add to your collection.

Well written and fascinating
Excellently researched - Tom Bower left no stone unturned. I've had suspicions that Meghan Markle was a social climber for a number of years and this book confirms those thoughts. Meghan has left a trail of destruction in her wake throughout the years - family (including her own father) and friends (even from early childhood). From failed actress to top billing, Meghan got there in the end and she has dragged Harry down to her level.

Presenting an alternative, fact checked reality.
A thorough, informative and well researched book which really lifts the lid on facets the of the couple's relationship . The author uses first hand interviews, articles and records. The book begins with Megan's family history, childhood and on to her adult life. Bower details the increasingly manipulative woman that Megan becomes as she uses (and then discards when their purpose has been served) carefully chosen victims along the way.So far seems the most comprehensive analysis of the good, the bad and the downright ugly inner workings of the LA "power couple". Their callous timing, inability to show compassion and generally vile tactics are described in detail.Their actions ensured mega-fame, fortune and influence but the people they used and discarded along the way are now coming back to haunt them.In addition Megan's increasing tendency to politicise race, culture and relationship is under scrutiny. The queen aptly commented that "recollections may vary".

Damming.
I have read a lot of Tom Bower books and am a massive fan.He takes on the threat of being personally sued and yet still exposes the rich and powerful.Brave man.And a very modest man (I’ve met him). And again he delivers with this book.Time and time again Harry and Meghan are exposed as being a deeply unpleasant duo.Narcissistic and with a very loose relationship to the truth.Cracking read.

The Truth
Couldn't put it down once I started it, shows that Meghan is a liar and a manipulator of others to make herself appear to be a celebrity.
