Shark Swimathon (MathStart 3)

I love this series that introduces math topics in a way kids can understand. This book shows how to subtract double digit numbers. Perfect intro to teaching the topic in more depth.

My students LOVE all animals and enjoy learning about them. What is amazing is that we can use animals and sports in math and just about learn anything with my class this year. We haven't used this book yet, but the math storyline and the cute, colorful pictures already making it an easy interest book. This book will work nicely with my remediation center for subtraction. Thanks for making education fun!

This is a book that is good on so many levels --+ goal setting+ team work+ tallying+ subtractionThere is merit in the story itself -- a group works together to meet a goal. And there is real math value -- the double-digit subtraction is clear to understand and presented in several formats -- verbal (as you say the subtraction aloud), visual (as you see the subtraction problem solved) and as part of the text.This book is a keeper.

Great book for my 2nd graders to understand and learn subtraction. This book puts it down to their level using what they like especially boys using sharks and other sea creatures.
