I use this accessory along with a propane cylinder for culinary purposes. I use it to flame broil our meat … e.g., my wife bakes marinated chicken thighs with tandoori masala (her own of course) and then I use this blow torch to sear and char the meat for that perfect tandoori flavor. In the past I was using smaller torches but after finding this one the job is much faster.

Item is just the top and does not come with the gas, you have to buy that at an auto store or hardware store etc. It works as it was supposed to. What I wasn't as fond of is that it seems like the knob to turn on and off could be sensitive to easily being knocked and turned on. I didn't feel comfortable with the thought of that. I'm sure they are probably all made that way, perhaps some are better than others. It worked properly though and as it was supposed to, so I would still say it's a good product and value for the price.

For a DIY / Maker hobbyist is a decent little torch head compared to some of the more name-brand versions. I did some testing with regular propane gas and generates plenty of head for this style of the torch. Having a flow and some direction control are nice touches, and while the design is a bit more plastic than the cast metal of the Berzomatic trigger torch head I've got I don't think it feels cheap. If anything the plastic made it easier for them to have some text included in the mold. Even the lock button and thumb wheel for the flow valve control has some text and details included making it a bit easier to use. When I started working with it I also had some concerns about the flow control thumb wheel being easy to over loosen they have a physical stop that makes it hard to remove. It's also worth noting that this torch head is a fair bit less expensive than the ones you'll find at the big box stores Overall I think this is a great option for DIY and hobbyists with intermittent use however may not be as good an option for more heavy-duty or professional use. The main reason I say that is there was some inconsistency in the trigger igniting the gas. The clicks were always audible, but if the gas was off, flow too low, or flow too high the trigger start wasn't. If you ever had to use a striker you know how frustrating that can be and in my mind trigger starts are really there to avoid that no-start frustration. While the TS4000 torch head I had to compare to doesn't have flow control I almost never made a trigger start that didn't ignite the gas. I don't know how that compares to the newer Bernzomatic touch heads that have similar flow control but something to think about. I also have some mild concerns about how well the plastic body would do under more professional use.
