Review: Rhys supremacy - Twisted Games by Ana Huang, the second book in the Twisted series, continues to captivate readers with its enthralling blend of forbidden love, intense passion, and well-executed tropes. Princess Bridget and her bodyguard, Rhys Larsen, are a match made in romance heaven, and their story is one for the ages. The book flawlessly combines the forbidden love trope with a royal bodyguard romance, creating a narrative filled with secrecy, tension, and undeniable chemistry. Rhys and Bridget, our lead characters, steal the show with their adorable and swoon-worthy romance. Their interactions are filled with banter, tension, cuteness, jealousy, and an abundance of spice. Their love story is beautifully written, and readers will find themselves swooning, giggling, and blushing alongside the characters. What sets this book apart is the deep emotional connection between Rhys and Bridget. They become each other's rocks, offering unwavering support and comfort in a world full of constraints and expectations. Rhys, as a character, stands out as an alpha hero who will melt readers' hearts with his unwavering commitment and selflessness. His love for Bridget is undeniable, making him a standout character in the Twisted series. Beyond the romance, the sub-plot of politics and monarchy adds depth to the story, shedding light on the corrupt system. Seeing glimpses of Ava and Alex's happiness from the previous book is a pleasing touch, along with the presence of other endearing characters. Twisted Games is an outstanding addition to the Twisted series, surpassing its predecessor in terms of storytelling and character development. Even if you were lukewarm about the first book, this one is undoubtedly worth a read. Ana Huang has crafted a beautiful, swoon-worthy romance that will stay with readers long after they've turned the final page. Overall, Twisted Games is a must-read for fans of romance novels, and Ana Huang has undoubtedly created a book that will remain a favorite for many. The book offers a perfect blend of steamy passion, forbidden love, political intrigue, and a love story that will make your heart flutter. Don't miss out on this captivating and unforgettable romance. Review: Guarded hearts and royal stakes - The opening of this book felt a little uneven, with an early time skip that created more confusion than momentum. We’re told not much has changed between the main characters over a full year — which is hard to believe, considering the constant close proximity and the charged dynamic between them. It makes the early pacing feel flat, like we’ve skipped over something important without a real payoff. Thankfully, the temperature rises — in every sense — and things start to get exciting. The spice comes in slowly but hits hard once it arrives. As the story unfolds, both characters begin to open up and grow, gradually finding common ground in a way that feels earned. The classic forbidden romance trope, along with the bodyguard/princess dynamic, delivers exactly the kind of angst and tension I was hoping for. Beyond the romance, the FMC really stood out. Her strength, empathy, and intelligence made her incredibly easy to root for. You want her to succeed. She deserves the role she's stepping into, and it’s satisfying to see her own that space without sacrificing who she is. The ending ties everything up neatly, with a conclusion that feels complete without being overdone.

Damn. This book was everything I didn’t know I needed and more.
Twisted Games – ARC Review Rating: 5/5 Smut: 5/5 I didn’t think I would love this book more than Twisted Love or that I would love Bridget and Rhys more than Alex and Ava. But a part of me loves Bridget and Rhys a smidge more I think. I remember saying in my review of Twisted Love, that the writing style was different for me and that it took me a while to get to grips with it in terms of connecting with the book. That wasn’t the case for me here, I’d connected instantly. Now I don’t know of that’s because like I’d read the first in the series and so the style wasn’t new to me. Or whether the writing in itself was better in this book. But either way, the writing in this book in my opinion was phenomenal. Because a lot happens in the course of the book though it didn’t feel at all slow or rushed. The pace was perfect, I think. At the end of part one, I did feel like it was a little rushed at the time. In the sense that, I felt like there were details between the lead protagonists of incidents that took place that we didn’t get to read at current time. They were mentioned in passing monologue by either protagonist e.g. when Bridget mentions Rhys lending her his coat. At the time I’d felt as though I’d have loved to read the moment in actual time. But as the story went on and especially, I think halfway through part two, I understood that this story was bigger than Bridget and Rhys falling for each other. The premise of the story was bigger than just them falling in love, it was about equality, feminism, it was about moving forward from outdated, archaic rules (that today still are common in some if not many monarchies). Most importantly conquering obstacles in their way, whilst fighting for their love. I loved the love story obviously, but I loved it more so because it had positive messages for both political and basic human right stances. And so, I mean if every single detail was written the book would be probably 3x as big as it was, if not more. And obviously, it’s all about the quality and not quantity. Overall, the book I think in terms of writing was so well structured and paced which is a great skill not many can perfect. I loved Bridget so much. The way she carries and conducts herself and just overall the kind of person she is. But at the same time her whit and sarcastic humour was hilarious. I loved seeing Ava and Alex in the book as well as the rest of the squad and their cameos. Especially in chapter 43-44 seeing Alex in action again was everything! I hadn’t realised how much I missed him until then, and it made me want to reread Twisted Love just for him. Alex says “information is power” it was SO Alex Volkov, that whole scene was EVERYTHING! The element of suspense and surprise in this book like in Twisted Love was amazing! Usually, I’m so good at knowing and predicting in storylines. But in both books of this series thus far I was stumped. Especially, the reveal of the bombshell in chapter 42 and part 2 of the bombshell reveal in chapter 49.. Holy.. I was jaw dropped. The smut and sexual tension between Bridget and Rhys in my opinion was hot as hell! I would like to forewarn that it is a dominant style smut with mild to medium notions of BDSM so, be prepared. Definitely more so than in Twisted Love. But I would say although it was dominant, it wasn't as rough or emotionless as traditional dominant/BDSM structures. In the book we see the two main characters only sleep with each other. When Rhys does call Bridget names in bed, to me it didn’t come across as aggressive or detached as usually expected in dominancy. So, it didn't sound as rough or mean, if that makes sense? I didn't mind it at all. I thought it was hot to be honest and Bridget also loved it too. So, I mean who am I to complain..? I loved the layout of the epilogue and how we got to see two such main events in both Bridget and Rhys’s lives. It was such a perfect ending. I absolutely cannot wait for Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. I highly recommend this book!

Twisted Games by Ana Huang is a passionate royal romance full of tension and slow-burn chemistry. This romance is about Princess Bridget von Ascheberg and her stoic, rule-bound bodyguard, Rhys Larsen. Bridget is a princess who is being burdened with more and more royal duties, and Rhys is tasked with being her bodyguard, but their growing passion for each other puts their strict relationship to the test. Rhys is disciplined, protective, and guarded, while Bridget is strong, compassionate, and determined to do things her way. Their forbidden relationship is full of intense, quiet moments that lead to great emotional payoff, and Ana Huang does a wonderful job balancing romance, angst, and character development to make their romance very believable and deep.
