I love the Minus33 brand
I love the Minus33 brand. Merino wool is the way to go. It is the only thing I have been wearing for years. I never stink no matter how far I hike in CO. My record is 40 days in a row without washing the Expedition weight crew. It was salt stained all over. I would hang it up at night outside the tent and the next morning it was good to go, absolutely no smell. My wife couldn't even believe it.The lightweight Minus33 run easily. The Midweight can also develop runs but not as easily. I have had an Expedition weight crew for four years and I still wear it. It looks old but it is still warm and works.

Very nice!
This top fits just so right like the bottom. I hope it doesn't shrink after being washed. If it does, I'll use it as a base. The fabric is just as soft as pima cotton. When I put this top on, my thump slips right into the thump hole without searching for the target. The length is long enough and there is a little space between the neck and the collar. Usually wear medium, so medium Kobuk for mid layer and small for base. Very nice!

Worth the price!
This sweater is unbelievably comfortable! Super-thick and heavy, it is not a lightweight sweater. It’s surprisingly heavy for it’s size but this adds to the comfort when wearing it. Tag says 100% Merino wool; very soft but with a dense weave. Good for a range of temps with a t shirt underneath, say from 45 to 70 degrees. This kept me comfortable on a long plane ride when the temps were highly variable. Would buy again despite the price if they had other colors available (mine was black). Highly recommend.

Soft and warm
I wore the Kobuk Expedition jersey on the first ride today. It was in the low 20s and I felt cool, but not cold, at the beginning and ten minutes into the ride I started to feel warm. Very happy with its performance. I had an Ibex Shak merino wool sweater (390g/m) for two years. The Kobuk (400 g/m) seems a little warmer. The fabric is also finer. It looks and feels almost like cotton knit because of its finer wool (18 micron vs. 20 micron for the Shak). It does feel a bit loose as compared to the Shak which is form-fitting. The Kobuk is $14 cheaper than the Shak on Amazon. So that is also not bad. In terms of appearance, I think the Shak looks more elegant because it looks more like a nice wool sweater while the Kokub looks like a cotton sweater.

Buy it !
It’s a bit costly but the quality is amazing. Warm and will last you for years. Nice thing about merino wool is you can wash it just like other fabrics and it doesn’t shrink. It also doesn’t itch and keeps you warm

Comfort perfected. Very warm but it breathes soooo well
Shut up and give the nice amazon people your money. This is the best 1/4 zip sweater you’ll ever wear. Good luck not wearing it for a week straight when you first buy it. On that note, it does not hold body odor (I still showered) washed gentle and hang dried it. It’s black and holds dog hair a little too well, may want to buy a lint roller along with it.

Holy Sheep! So Awesome bought the leggings as well.
Worth every penny and I'm glad I bit the bullet after hesitating for months. I have the mid weight version (love it) and afte a 10 mile hike in 5'F weather I started thinking I wanted a heavier base layer. This is twice the "weight" which actually is just a much denser weave but also possibly softer than the mid weight. Thumb holes are a nice bonus as is the fabric flap over the zipper top to protect your chin when it's freezing. So impressed with it I treated myself to the leggings as well.UPDATE 12/2016: Just got another one of these and they have improved the sleeves by extending them an inch or so. Makes a big difference as it is more comfortable. Love it!

Like a toaster for your torso!
I've used this on a recent ski trip to Colorado, as well as skiing in the North East. This expedition weight top is very warm, and is perfect for temps in the teens and below. As others have said, the thumb holes are a little too high up the sleeves. The material however, stretches enough that it didn't bother me. The fabric is maybe not as soft as my lightweight Smartwool top, but it is not itchy. I have washed this shirt several times, and always line dry it near my wood stove. No shrinkage so far. I highly recommend it.
