We use these in our chicken run to keep an eye on the heat and humidity. They're accurate, easy to read, and sync seamlessly with the app . It's helped us know exactly when to kick the fans on for the flock. We've already bought five—worth every penny for peace of mind and happy birds. It's small enough I can place it easily - but the text is large enough I can see it well across the run.It has no problems connecting to our wifi and I love that it syncs with smart devices. It's not weatherproof - but it does well in our completely covered run where it's sheltered from rain and direct elements

This thermostat really works!! I am using it in a travel trailer to make sure the temperature doesn’t get too high for my cat. And at first, I was skeptical that it would be able to connect with the spotty internet at my campsite. But it provides reliable information directly to the app on my phone whenever I check the temperature. It also has an alarm that will notify me if the temperature in the trailer goes above or below a pre-set range. Finally, the first one I received did broadcast the temperature but the display on the thermometer didn’t work. I contacted Govee and they sent out a new one with a working display right away! I have peace of mind that my cat is ok in the trailer, and I was quite impressed with the responsive customer service I received.

Update: 8/2025I have not had problems with the replacement as I did with the first thermometer/hydrometer. Battery life last a little bit longer but I am definitely changing the batteries more than twice a year. I found that using rechargeable batteries didn’t last as long and I was charging them mote frequently. Aside that, it is reliable. We have power outages often and I worry about my fur babies and fosters when I am out pf the home. The notifications make this helpful. Govee products also pair up with Alexa. Overall I am so happy with the thermometer. One year while working in a remote area in the desert my swamp cooler in my RV stopped working. I received the notification from the app and checked and could tell from the graph on the app at what time the swamp cooler stopped working and rushed back to my duty station. Govee thermometer saved my cats. I got back found the swamp had stopped working and was able to switch it to AC.This will be second unit that I’ve had to replaced luckily Amazon has great customer service. I rely on this to check on the temp in RV because I have three cats. I work in the desert and am parked where I have wifi and shore power, having this until is great because I can check on the temperature while I’m in the field working, as long as I have wifi service.PROS:Battery operated no need to plug it in and helpful for folks who are boondocking and have wifi access.Connects to wifi and you can check the temperature/humidity remotely.No monthly subscription.You can program it to send alerts when the temperature/humidity drops - low/high.I enjoy the downloaded app that allows me to check in and monitor.CONS: Battery life is short, pack extra batteries with you because they don’t last longer than 2.5 weeks. Perhaps if you set it to not send out frequent reports on temps they would last longer, but I’m worried about my cats and want to make sure that they are staying cool, we have power outages at our duty station which means the electrical can go out and I rely on our swamp and AC to keep things cool. I ended up buying rechargeable batteries in order to reduce waste.Be gentle when opening the kickstand part because it will break.The second unit that I have is less than a month old, batteries put in 2.5 weeks ago have started to read the wrong temperature. Refer to my video when I compare it to another thermometer. Although it was reading a few degrees off, the purpose of my having this is for accuracy.Amazon is replacing this unit which arrives tonight. I also just ordered Energizer rechargeable batteries.A small investment but I don’t like the idea of having to buy batteries all of the time, it’s wasteful and expensive.Anyhow this is great for those of us who travel but you need access to wifi if you want to check on the app.Overall I am very pleased. I had done a lot of research on a unit like this, many seemed to have issues, and this is simple to use. Govee will also sync with Alexa, which I have done but it only reads the humidity.

Not fully Alexa compatible.Shows up in the device list and gives you a generic dashboard that you don't use.Does not appear in the Smart Home group when attempting to add a routine.Two other thermometers in the room show accurate temperature and humidity, but it took several hours and multiple calibration attempts to achieve accuracy.If you want to look at it, that's good, looks nice on the Govee app, and that's it.Cannot be part of your Alexa routines.

Absolutely fantastic. Accurate readings and ease of syncing the data with a phone makes it the perfect choice. Both WiFi and Bluetooth functions work fine. I love the fact that you can track the temperature and actually plot it over months and years. You can also export a .csv which is super useful.

These Govee sensors (H5103 and H5179) work well: they’re accurate, easy to set up, and have good range.
