500 Poses for Photographing High School Seniors: A Visual Sourcebook for Digital Portrait Photographers Paperback – February 3, 2012

If you're looking for a bit of direction and don't have any training in shooting portraits or senior pictures, this book could save you a lot of wasted time. The written instructions and information is sparse but helpful. A handful of tips allowed us to avoid some common pitfalls that we've seen many other photography hobbyists make. Our photo shoot actually yielded more than 20 good shots to pick from.The photos were great for ideas to the seniors we worked with and helpful to spark the imagination and give new ideas to those who don't shoot senior pictures professionally or often. That said, the book seemed to have a lot of redundant photos, and some were just sleezy (and that's not coming from a prude, I am pretty open minded and even the teens found them more like hooker shots than senior pictures).We paid about $10 more than the current price on Amazon and were grateful for the help the book provided but also thought about returning it because the value of keeping it did not seem to be there. We did keep it, however, and will probably pass it on to another budding photographer somewhere down the line.

I have almost all of the books in this series and as I have stated before this book is exactly what it says it is, a visual sourcebook! Packed with image after image of poses it helps photographers gain creative ideas to help with posing.The only complaint I have is that many poses are repeated and the shot EXIF data isn't included. It would terribly easy to include basic information such as the MM, and F stop used to aid in garnering the same effects and it would improve the book dramatically.

I bought this because I am a starting a photography business, and I wanted some new ideas for senior pictures. The biggest complaint that I get is that the pics taken at school are generic. This has a lot of visual examples that are out of the ordinary. The only thing is, if you are looking for guys pics, there are quite a few, but most of the ones that had poses like what I was looking for, were of girls. Also, this gives you great examples of physical locations. There are very little words in this book. It is pretty much all pictures.

The visual poses are great -- some tried and true along with some newer twists on posing. The written text contains "fundamental posing rules" with potraits illustrating each rule. This book is a great way to visually soak in a lot of information that might be lost if it were "words only" instructions/examples. Some stunning photography!

I was able to utilize the pictures to help me with posing. Although, I think some of the poses were repeated in different pictures throughout the book.

Although there isn't much reading in this book with information on what particulars the shot was taken with the amount of poses shown are well worth the price

If you are just starting out, this will give some good ideas and tips. Since I have been photographing seniors for about 4 years, it didn't give me too much new information. I have found many inspirational images and online by googling senior portrait ideas.The tips at the end of the book, again, are great for beginners.

I got this book to get more posing ideas for photographing high school seniors .It seems that the more photography you do the less ideas you have for posing anyone and this book has created a new outlook for me on posing ideas..thank you Garry-Garry's Photography
