Nice grills in a great size
I like the convenient sizes of these grills. They work with a lot of different types of stoves, or just propped on a couple of rocks with a fire between them. The grills are very sturdy, and the grating is small enough that small pieces of food don't fall through the holes. The grills are also handy for stoves that don't support small cups, or cans. The grills make a great pot stand on almost any type of stove, and support any size cook pot, pan, can, or cup. They are very easy to clean, and have a very nice vinyl type case to store them in, which keeps other gear clean. I would recommend these grills for convenient and versatile cooking.

Great option for lightweight cookware when camping
I picked up the Expedition Research Original Bushcraft Grills last year, hoping to use them on different camping trips. Unfortunately, most of the trips I went on were either backpacking trips (during burn bans) or large group camps where a small grill was not going to be enough. That situation forced me to relegate these grills to my extra camp gearbox in the hopes of getting them out in the future. Well, that time has finally started to come. I was able to take them with me when we went car camping at the beginning of the year and see how they performed. Hopefully, I can do a little more car camping this spring with our dog, and maybe the burn bans will be lifted. As I mentioned, I used the large grill the last time we camped in order to cook hot dogs for dinner. In my opinion, this is definitely a good test just due to how simple hot dogs are. Overall, the large grill did well, it provides just enough cooking surface to get the job done without packing on too much weight. The design of the grill also means that there is little interference from the material, as in you do not have to wait a long time for the steel to heat up as it is not conductive heating. I definitely need some more practice just to be able to judge the height and heat needed for different meals. That being said I am still happy with the product and very excited to take it out some more. The grills feel very durable and I expect to be able to get some serious usage out of them. I would imagine that the larger grill will do most of my cooking but I also think that the small square one will work great for something like boiling water on a small twig or solid fuel stove. I also hope to pick up their titanium version at some point to give it a test but that is a task for another day.

Good quality and craftsmanship
The Bushcraft grill is a great bargain because you get two small grills and its own tote bag. I can use the small grill with my alcohol stove or my canteen wood burning stove which fits both very well giving me a good base to cook or heat. The larger grill I can put on coals or between two rocks or logs and cook or heat in that manner. Both grills and tote bag are well made but I would recommend you wrap them in a cloth after use before putting them in the tote bag so that the bag does not get real dirty and it starts seeping out into your backpack if that is how you plan to carry it. I also recommend using a small metal plate under the small grill to catch any grease if you are using your alcohol stove or wood burning stove or else the stoves will get real dirty. Its easier to clean a metal plate than all your stove components. I do recommend the Bushcraft Grill if you are hiking or bush crafting but it is big enough for 1-2 people. More than that you will need two sets of grills or just a bigger grill. I do recommend the Bushcraft Grill.

Excellent grill grates, very sturdy construction
Does exactly what I needed it for. I bought this set for two reasons when I go backpacking. Firstly, I wanted the smaller square grate to use with my MSR Dragonfly stove and my cheap Stanley pot. I love the Stanley pot, but it's too narrow to use with my dragonfly stove unless I get it to balance just right. Balancing a quart of boiling water doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I needed something to put on the pot stand legs of the stove so the pot can rest securely. The small grate worked perfectly. I figured since I was buying one, I may as well buy the set and I could cook over an open fire with the larger grate while I cooked on the stove. What I ended up trying while on a backpacking trip with it worked pretty well too. The longer grate perfectly spanned across my aluminum wind screen and I was able to cook over the stove's flame like a little bbq grill. I'll try to remember to update my review later with pictures. Ultimately, I would definitely suggest these grates to anyone who wants a small portable grill grate for cooking over an open flame or even a small stove. One (maybe more) of the reviews I read mentioned sharp edges. Mine did have a few sharp edges that snagged on carry bag when I was trying to put it away initially. I took the grates out to the garage and used a drum disk and my rotary tool to get rid of any burs or sharp edges. It wasn't a huge deal to me, I don't think I could have gotten cut on any of the edges, but I was worried it might eventually rip the bag. If you don't want to put in the elbow grease, I could see this being a potential problem. Ultimately this is the only reason I deducted one star. Functionality and sturdiness wise, this is a 5 star product, just could have had better finishing touches. Then again, given the price point, can't really complain, and if I could I would only deduct half a star.

Worth the purchase
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these products….They are well made, and pretty solid. I would recommend buying this without reservation. They are thick gauge, well soldered, and quality control makes these a win for me and my needs.
