Perfect little book
This book was so beautifully written that I read it from start to finish in less than a day, despite looking after two young children. It moved me so much that it *almost* made me want to return to my career as a NHS junior doctor partly for some of the same things as described here. One of those few perfect little books that makes you feel a sort of grief after finishing it, because you’ve been so engrossed. Highly recommend.

A labour of love
This reads as a passionate yet scientifically accurate love letter. To the NHS, to his patients, to his wife and family and to his friends. A raw an honest account of life as a junior doctor, interspersed with reflections on physiology, sociology and politics. I’ve read it twice already! I usually pass on the books I’ve read to charity shops or friends, but this ones a keeper I’ll keep going back to.

Fascinating book
Beautifully written & well crafted, this book by a young Dr in various hospitals in the NHS is a marvelous insight into his work. Each chapter is an opportunity to learn & reflect on our own body as we meet those who are undergoing treatment. There is a feeling of the Vet books by Herriot here, the passion, the compassion, the glimpses of the man behind the professional. Do read it!
