TERA PUMP Polypropelene Plastic Rotary 55 Gallon Drum Barrel Pump for water based solutions and all petroleum products

Received it today and used the provided teflon tape on the intake tube joints. DON'T FORGET TO PUT ON THE BARREL BUNG ADAPTER onto the first section BEFORE ASSEMBLY (don't ask)LEAVE the first 1/8" or so of threads free of tape to aid in starting the threading together easier...I can see where some people have trouble ..the threads are very fine but NICELY MADE.. if you put teflon tape all the way to the end, you may have problems getting them started thats all. there are THREE pipes to thread together.. I PRIMED IT ,upside down with oil( thats what I'm pumping) and when placing it in the barrel , it picked up INSTANTLY and oil was delivered out the spout in a high volume with easy cranking. I love it! You will need to hold the pump with one hand while pumping with the other.. it's not made of heavy metal like the ones in the 50s you know?? but works very well indeed.

No instructions were included, but the pump assembled easily and intuitively. Construction is pretty solid. The inlet and outlet ports are 3/4 BSP, so adapting a different tube would be easy if needed. The pumps works well and I'll probably buy a few more. Thanks.

Awesome. Just what I was looking for. I collect rain water in 55 gallon barrels to water my garden and pine trees. I was looking for an easy way to get the water out without using motorized pumps. The TRRP90P plastic rotary drum barrel does the job. It was easy to put together, although I would prefer instructions rather than just looking at the picture on the box. However, I got it done. Put it in the barrel and gave it a spin. The water came pouring out. I also used it to extract a small about of water from a IBC 250 gallon tank that I needed to move. Worked like a charm. Would like to see the manufacturer develop an attachment similar to the bung they created for the 55 gallon barrel, but using a 6" cap for the IBC tank. This would then enable use of the tool for larger tanks as well.Looking forward to pumping a lot of water for use during the dry season now that the monsoons are over.

I purchased this pump primarily for watering some recently planted fruit trees using a 55 gallon drum mounted on the back of my tractor. I selected this pump mainly because being plastic, it should not corrode like cast iron or other metal pumps. I have been using it about once every week for two months now. It works pretty well for the most part, but has a few shortcomings.First, the good points:1. It is inexpensive.2. Easy assembly.3. Not difficult to use, but I wouldn't advise be too rough with it.Now the not so good:1. The threaded connections are fine threads, which are very shallow on the plastic suction tube and do not have much holding power. Why is this an issue? Over tighten them once when threading into the bottom of the pump housing (even if using only your bare hands and no tools) and you'll find out just how easily they strip. Once you strip the threads, the pump will constantly suck air through the threaded connections and will easily not draw fluids up through the tube. This leads to another immediate problem- you cannot simply glue the stripped threads into the pump housing or then you cannot remove the collar that fits into the barrel bung and holds the pump assembly in place. IMO, this is a design flaw and was not very well thought out. The good news if this happens to you- you can still take it back apart and swap the top and middle sections of the suction tube around if the one at the top is stripped out where it threads into the pump housing- and use pipe sealant on the stripped threads so it won't draw in air.2. The collar that threads into the barrel bung was difficult to start into the threaded connection on the barrel and is made of plastic with a metal clip and thumb screw that is tightened against the suction tube to hold the pump assembly in place. This screw is inadequate to prevent the whole assembly from rotating relative to the barrel when using the handle to pump. Another poor design that could be easily fixed by putting a a small flat section on the suction tube for the thumb screw and clip to press against and more firmly hold it from moving while you are trying to pump with it.3. The 2-piece discharge tube has a swivel union that dribbles a little where the two pieces mate together- but being plastic, I had learned my lesson on over tightening. Another minor complaint- there are no pipe threads to connect a hose barb fitting into the outside end of the discharge tube. I ended up using a pipe tap to cut some threads so I could attach a standard plastic 3/4" garden hose barb. Otherwise you would have to attach a very large diameter hose (maybe 1 1/4"?) OVER the outside of the discharge tube and use hose clamps to attach it.Overall, the pumps works pretty well despite these issues and for the cost, I can't really complain too much. It pumps a good volume with the 3/4" garden hose and I can empty the entire 55 gallon barrel in about 12-15 minutes without working too hard rotating the pump. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to get the pump to prime if is has no residual water left in the hose. A more robust suction tube and stronger threads would fix most of these problems. Had it not been for the above issues, I would have given it a much higher rating.

I have used this now for several weeks in a 12% Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Bleach) drum and it work great. About 10 handle turns gets you a gallon. Good product. I have tried other ones and if there is any metal whatsoever or cheap rubber parts the bleach corrodes and/or disintegrates it in days. Not this one. Highly recommend. I do rinse it every time after use by running fresh water through it but honestly don't think that's even necessary.

This rotary pump worked great the first 5 times I used it, pumping an average of 5 gallons each time over the course of a year. The sixth time, the suction is down to almost nothing. I reached out to Terapump via the contact form on their website. They didn't reply at all for 2 weeks, and when they did, it was only to ask for the original invoice and if the pump would pump water. I replied immediately but didn't hear back. So I reached out several more times, asking if there was a phone number I could call so I could get this resolved.Today (6 weeks after first making contact), they provided me a number to call. I spoke to Aaron, who said it was out of warranty and he wouldn't help me. No offers to help troubleshoot, no apologies, just a, "Not going to help you."A little kindness and responsiveness goes a long way, and I think I'm more disappointed in how the Terapump failed to deal with my questions than I am in the actual failure of the pump to work as advertised.

This is definitely one of the better pumps out there and pumps 5w30 oil from a 55gal barrel with ease. The only gripe we had was that the lower part of the pump came off and sunk to the bottom of the barrel. We had to purchase a new pump but once we used all the oil, we fished out the lower part. The whole thing is plastic but it is very durable. Biggest plus is that this pump doesn't leak
