Worked well for me - Marine battery/power terminals 2, 4, 6, 8 AWG
Hey it is not a $300 to $1500 professional tool. And yes it has metric not AWG dies (welcome to the global market). But it worked very well for my boat overhaul, I crimped over 15 2AWG, 10 4AWG, 15 6AWG and at least 20 8AWG terminals without problem. And it is ready for future projects. 1. Be careful, take your time and it works. 2. Hand held crimp tools can be a little awkward. I found it easy to start the press until it was firmly holding the lug. 3. Then inserted the pre-trimmed wire, with heat shrink pre-cut and slipped over the wire. 4. Crimp firmly but stop when the dies touch. Over pumping will just risk blowing out the seals. 5. If you start to get "wings" squeezing out between the dies near the end of the crimp, stop. This is common to many crimp dies and soft lugs. Once you have wings you're not going to get a tight crimp by just pumping harder. 6. Release a little. Rotate the lug 90 degrees and press again to flatten the wings and finish with a tight crimp. Check the C clamp head occasionally to be sure it doesn't unscrew from the body and you should not have any leaks or problems. With a little bit of care I got very good results at a fraction of the cost of custom ordered cables or a more expensive tool.

Decent Tool for the price and here is a quick mod that will help.
For the price, it's a decent product. You can tell it's a product made in China but it does work. Pros: *Comes with extra seals to rebuild cylinder if it ends up leaking. *Lots of dies, 10 awg to 600 MCM. *Lots of pressure and release valve works great. Cons: *With one set of dies in the tool, there are two extra sets with no holder in the blow-molded case. The OEM should do better, that's just dumb. *Dies are rough and need some clean up. Wish they were anodized black instead of bright plated. *Dies fit loosely in the tool and may not line up perfectly with each other. *Labels on the outside of the case are cheesy and won't last. For those of you complaining about the dies creating "wings" when you crimp, the quick fix to that is to take a hand file and chamfer the edges of both dies where they come together and form the "wing". This will allow the dies to form a ridge instead of smashing the material out so flat it flakes of with your fingers. It took less than a minute to fix both dies and the resulting crimp was much better. See the image showing the difference in the modified and OEM die. This should help your results when using a quality lug such as the thick barreled one shown in the images. Thinner barreled, china made lugs, such as the ones that came with the 50A batter disconnects I just bought will still form "wings" no matter what....but again....cheap, China made, lugs and crimpers. If you expect better, you have to buy better products. You will never get a mil-spec crimp from anything this cheap.

Good quality tool
But threw away my last crimper and got this hydraulic one used it and the crimps are holding very well. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of this

Phenomenal!
Used this to crimp 1/4 stainless cable and 4/0 battery cable. They probably aren't the prettiest crimps but who cares, they are being covered with heat shrink.

Used for crimping 2/0 awg cables
I bought this to get some good crimps on some 2/0 awg cables. I only had a dozen crimps to make and it worked well though of course cannot speed on the topic of long term durability. I do wish the handles were a bit longer so there was a bit more leverage when crimping but that isn't much of a problem since this is not an everyday tool for me. I did notice some reviewers said the dies on their crimper were loose. Mine has the opposite issue where I have to tap on them and use a pair of pliers to remove them when I want to switch them out.

Makes gorgeous and strong crimps easily
This thing makes 6 AWG crimps so beautiful and strong you really don’t want to cover them up with heatshrink. Great product at a great price!

Don't waste your money!
I broke down and bought this thing because of some heavy duty wiring I am doing to my SXS, (large cables) thinking it would make it faster and easier to crimp the big lugs than doing it the old fashion way, WOW was I wrong, I finally did get a few of them crimped but they look like crap, and I wasted as many as I got on the wires. Firstly the pressure/release button is backward from the labeling on the side, then it constantly drifts open, so about the time I thought the thing had a grip on the lug so I could balance it and really crank it down, everything would move and then not a good crimp on the full length of bare wire, I tried and tried to turn that knob tight enough so I wouldn't drift, but to no avail, and there is absolutely NO WAY is crimped to 10 tons, no way no how, but it did get them tight enough to hold. The other thing is, and I see most all of them are made the same way, but the head where the dies are should be pointing up not down so you can see what is going on with the wire and lug, trying to pump it and make sure the wire and lug stay in place is a real chore, I actually wasted more time and material than if I had done them manually with the hammer and crimper I have always used, they don't look and nice as the square crimp but they are easy and hold well. I may try another brand but I think I would be throwing good after bad, and since Amazon is now charging for return shipping and deducting from the paid price I will end up eating this one.... WORST purchase I have made in a very long time!
