This book is very helpful for people who want to learn about Kendo. The book explains all the basics about kendo from the correct way to enter the dojo and bow all the way up to how to actually strike and defend. The book has black and white illustrations to make things easier to understand. However, this book is no substitute for actual Kendo lessons. This book should be used to supplement actual, real life Kendo training.

Hiro is someone I recently discovered and immediately have a lot of respect for. He makes great videos and has a website dedicated to art and spirit of Kendo as well as it's budo aspects; not just the sport aspects. This book is great for people like me who don't have access to a kendo dojo but still want to learn.

I would recommend this book to a beginning practitioner. It provides a good outline of the basics while describing the, in enough detail to at least get a basic understanding that will supplement well with one’s training.

Excellent resource for this VERY late beginner. The product is made even more useful by the authors website. The URL has changed somewhat but it gets you on to the site and navigation from there is easy.

When it comes to the martial arts and ways nothing is better than a competent teacher. This is a resource worthy of a practioner's library. The video and descriptions don't take the place of a sensei's correction in real time but I'd recommend this book.

Wonderfully detailed book going through the basics of Kendo. Really like how his lessons in the book are paired with his online videos. Have already recommended and will again. Enjoy
