I see some reviews calling this "soil" and questioning whether it has nutrients. The packaging also calls it "soil," which is not right and is probably causing confusion.This is compressed coconut fiber - the "hair" on the outside of a coconut shell. It doesn't have nutrients. What it DOES offer is great drainage. If you have dense, compacted soil in a pot, this will fluff it up really nicely. It also is great as one part of a seed starting mix, because your seedlings won't drown - it dries out fast!For nutrients, though, you will need to add something. For seed starting, a mixture of 1-2 parts coir, 1 part perlite, and 1 part finished compost is good. Otherwise, you'll have to fertilize the seedlings if you only grow them in coir.This brand seems good - the brick broke apart more easily than others I've tried.

Great amount for the price! And the quality was also great. I used this to plant my new seedlings and they sprouted pretty fast and did great! I will definitely be purchasing this again in the near future. Shipping was also fast.
