Multiple Functions
Nice kettle. Bright color. Multiple functions. The best part of the kettle is temperature setting. I usually set it up at 60F, perfect for drinking and making tea.

Good for Teas and Bird Nest Soup
My wife uses this product to make tea and create her own bird nest soup. It's a simple kettle to use with a compartment to steep things. It heats her teas and soups to a boil in a timely manner. She's happy with this product!

Love it
Easy to use, great looking and very good quality glass. We have been making different teas in this machine and it keeps the brewed tea at whatever temp we desire all day long.

nice kettle and has settings for traditional Chinese medicinals and soups
I bought this unit to replace a three year-old Buydeem kettle I had used nearly everyday but was beginning to burst a leak somehow around its handle. Otherwise, that kettle still worked. The Bear kettle I am reviewing here was less-expensive than Buydeem and shipped faster, plus after the Buydeem one developed a leak after three years, I wasn't sure I wanted to entrust them for another kettle this time around. The Bear kettle feels a little less quality than the Buydeem—not horribly, overall it's well-made, but the lid parts feel a bit cheap. The glass pitcher is alright I guess and the stand is solid and has a wider variety of presets than the Buydeem did, most geared towards Chinese medicinal or traditional cooking. If you're just looking to make Western-style hot tea, only a couple of these settings will be necessary. However, if you plan on doing things like sour plum soup or tremella soup, it has settings for those. The downside of this has been that even if you don't quite fill the water to the top fill-line on the pitcher, it can boil over—as in out of the spout—especially if you are making a tea with things like mint leaves in it which bounces around during the boil. Twice it has boiled over, I guess I will just not fill it up as far but the Buydeem did not have that problem (though again, it has sprung a leak). So would I recommend this kettle? So far, overall yes especially if you need one able to do the Chinese medicinal and soup functions. And since the base is covered with glass, if it does boil over, at least it's easy to clean. The Buydeem's base and kettle alike were much more difficult to clean.

Functions, but really annoying to use!
Functions, but I would describe the interface as "User Hostile"! For a simple function like boiling water for tea, it takes using the control knob to select "boil", then about 8 taps on the "Keep Warm" button to adjust the temperature up to the maximum of 90C (=194F or just adequate for tea). It wouldn't be bad if you could set the warming temperature once, then have it always use that value, but resetting each time is truly annoying! The 1.8L capacity is good, but the 1000w heater is marginal and takes a long time to boil that amount of water.
