There are not magnets on the case, it just snaps onto the back of the phone.

Anyone else recived a snide counterfeit?

No, mine was genuine but I have had issues with Amazon before on Apple accessories. It seems some people order a genuine one and then return it but put something else in the box. Amazon do not check it and so send it out again with the fake or wrong product.
