Forney 49620 Hot Rolled Plate, 1/4" x 4" x 12"

The local stores in the area were out of 1/4 inch flat bar, so I decided to order from Amazon. This was the first time for me buying flat bar from Amazon and it seems decent quality and true to size description.These are not delicate items but they come very well packaged with several layers of bubble wrap. I ordered two of these and there was zero metallic rattle sound coming from the package.After drilling and mounting to the work bench it made a nice backing plate for my press. I have done this before with other presses and 1/4 inch is about right without being over kill. I will buy more of this items as I add stations to my work bench.

Product looks fine,however my issue is how it was delivered. We have been having flooding rain. The steel was packaged loose with bubble padding in a cardboard box. Whomever delivered it just dropped it on my front stoop in the rain. So I have a soaked box with now wet raw steel. There is not a problem with the product. But the delivery was an epic fail......

Happy with this 1/4" steel plate. It is a full 1/4" and exactly 4" X 12".I was able to use a $75 drill press to drill a 1/2" hole through this 1/4" plate, used oil and only drill for about 15 seconds each segment, added oil, then drilled again. Ensured that I went easy and got through this plate in less than 10 minutes.It is a very solid plate and functional.

Used it ti make a tow hitch for my ATV. Welds easily and nice to work with.

I used this to create a custom motor mount/bracket for my kid's razor quad upgraded 500w motor. It was a bit tough to cut through, but elbow grease got me through it. It has worked beautifully and I've had no problems.

I used two of these to stabilize a small free standing metal statue - I had a local welding shop weld each foot to one plate, and then used cold gun bluing (and then some oil) to make them rust resistant. It worked out well.

Perfect thickness to protect wall. Texture and rough color make it fit in without painting. Can cut with metal saw blade if patient.
