Used for college lectures with great sound quality. You can plug in earphones to ensure the recording quality and recorder position is clearly recording the speaker. Playback is great with an adjustable volume. Recommend

Update of 2018:I take one star off because of one very annoying and unpleasant for my ears flaw of the device.Attach your headphones' cord BEFORE you turn on the voice tracker! Doing this "after" leads to hurtful experience - a sudden loud (static discharge?) electrical crack which will startle you and create temporary physical suffering for your hearing ability.I honestly tried to get used to it but I use headphones so often that it became irritating to experience.Otherwise everything else is fine. All mysterious sounds turned out to be pretty natural and repetitive. I learnt a lot about the environment I live in and also my hidden health issues like snoring :) This device helped me to explain and to recognize the source of my worsened quality of night rest - Sleep Apnea! But this is already another story...I bought this model because I needed different manufacturer and special options. I already own one made by Olympus and one made by Sony.My purpose is to investigate night loud sounds which are suspicious but not necessarily paranormal. Also I prefer to make voice notes when I read an interesting book or research a subject which involves different opinions and a lot of uncommon details. That's all.Now about that special feature which made me happy. It's called Timer. With this recorder you have 2 options to start automatic recording. One is voice activated (every recorder has it) and another one is Timer function. It's a huge Pro's for me! You can use Timer to start a recording at a specified date and time. The device can record from the device's microphone, the radio or an external sound source.In my case I love to record the time between 3 AM and 4 AM - in my opinion the most mysterious hours of the day. I bought 2 of them because I love to record synchronously from Raudive device and just environmental sounds of the same room at 3 AM. While I'm sleeping the Timer function is working and recording without my presence and control. Moreover you can set up the recorder to work without any indication of "life" such as light, sound or anything else. Just disable the record indicator, key and signal tones or just switch the silent recording On in order to protect the spirits from excessive stress of being watched and eavesdropped :)And the most important note about the battery. When I got my first device from other website it didn't start to charge up. I became disappointed but read the manual first! They have a recommendation for this case: "Press the Reset button on the side of the DVT (close to the STOP button) by using a small object, such as the end of an unwound paper clip". Great, it worked like a charm!I also love Auto Adjust Rec function. It allows the device to automatically adjust the record settings (recording quality, microphone sensitivity etc.) to suit the recording conditions. During recording the device detects movement and switches automatically between Meeting and Conversation. Bought a Philips DVT3000 recorder in Aug 2017 that stopped working after 17 months. Since in the past I've had good luck with Philips I got another, the DVT4010 model. It stopped working after less than one month. Guess I need to find a different manufacturer for my next recording unit. Thank goodness that it didn't last through 30 days return deadline, so the return using Amazon's great return policy should be easy.

My Philips recorder is easy to use and has a good sound. We had no good instructions so we had to just play with it to see what it can do. Could not find the serial # to register it.Helen

I use it for dictating notes on my patients. The sound quality is really great for my transcriptionist. Very easy to use and charge, and the charge lasts for a long time. It takes a second or two when making a new file or deleting. Nice LCD display that works well.

Good quality and work really well

This voice recorder is excellent! All orders are well responsive and no visible bad surprises. The only deficient part there (from my point of view) is its slightly weak speaker. Still, I liked very much this recorder!
