Fits
Bought for a 100lb propane tank that had a sun damaged one that broke. Worked as it should, not much more to wonder about a plug.

Key safety part for those transporting propane tanks
I use this plug on my 5# propane cylinder I use when camping. For the most part lugging a 20# cylinder makes little sense for most camping trips. The key here is that it is easy to accidently loosen a propane tank valve. It happened to me! This plug eliminates the possibility of leaking gas into your car during transport. Also since it is a left handed thread it is unlikely that my grandson opens the valve and is able to get the plug out.

does not fit, threads are wrong, etc.
There good plugs out there, this isn't one of them!

Safety plugs for transporting gas tanks.
If you coat the plug with some petroleum jelly before counter-clockwise insertion you will not re-thread the plug and can keep on using it as intended when you carry tanks for filing. I had read all the other reviews and I knew what they were doing incorrectly. Sorry no one helped them. These work great.

Does the job.
I'm using a pair of 100 pound propane cylinders to fuel a greenhouse heater. I ordered the plugs to keep the POL valves clean when I'm transporting the cylinders for refilling. They work fine for that or for storing a spare cylinder and will keep debris out of the valve. Being plastic they are softer than the brass valves so if you cross thread one the plug will be damaged rather than the valve's threads, which is a good thing as the plugs are inexpensive and easily replaceable. Will buy again when I need replacements.

Works fine, picture was deceptive
I received the plug today, it comes with a plastic strap to connect it to the cylinder. There is nothing wrong with it and it will do the intended job and that is plug the opening when I transport the cylinder. My disappointment is it is red and not the yellow as pictured. I have two cylinders and wanted two colors one red and one yellow so it would be a way of knowing which cylinder was in use and which was the backup. I have two red. I ordered two plugs from different sources ( both Amazon ) in an effort to get the two colors. If you need a safety plug for your propane cylinder then this is a good buy. Just don't trust the picture.

Works as intended
I use this with my 5lb propane tank. As others have mentioned, it is almost impossible to get the plug to seat perfectly. It naturally wants to crossthread. Took about ten tries to get it just right, but if you push straight on the plug firmly as you tighten it, it will screw in perfectly. A metal plug would probably be better if you were frequently removing and reinstalling it, but if you set it and forget it, it should work just fine.
