DALY Smart Active Balancer 4S 1A with Bluetooth for LiFePO4 Li-ion

I live 5 months a year off grid, using a 60ah homemade battery to run fridge and some led lights. No BMS. The most I've used for 15 hours of nighttime is 200wh. For 3 years, I've charged the battery to 13.8v. I had a capacitor balancer, but never knew if it was working. Bought this active balancer, set the charge volts to 14.4v and watched in amazement, on my phone, the individual battery voltages rise, and the balancer doing its job. At 1 amp, balance happens pretty fast. Aside from a Victron SCC, this is my best solar purchase. The app is a little weird, since it's meant for a Daly BMS, but you can set the important parameters, like start voltage of balance and Delta of balance. Not so sure- tried it today and the balance just got worse, even when the battery was in absorption getting only 3 amps of input. Ended up with a delta of 0.150, charging to 14 volts. Tried it again a few days later: Set charge to 14 volt amps to 2 amps. All cells balanced out fine. Raised voltage to 14.4 , all cells balanced fine. My batteries are probably the problem- got one that's always lower. FWIW- the battery gained 10wh going from 14v to 14.4v. I don't see the point of pushing the battery to gain so little. I'll be charging at 13.8 or maybe 13.9v. Very happy with this balancer, even if it just showed me the cells voltage it would be worth the cost.

Ordered on the 19th, received on the 28th. Model # I received is HJ20 (4S). I am using this on my DIY LFP pack that previously had a cell voltage delta of .12V when charging - and getting worse (yes was top balanced first). First test and my delta was max of .027V! I am pleasantly surprised how accurate the voltage readings are, although not perfect. The parameters were easy to set up on my iphone just how I wanted them. You can setup to balance only when charging (ie all cells above chosen V). Starts balancing as low as .02V delta. App looks to be same as their BMS, showed balancing current of .7- .9A while in use and it drew from any cell to give to any cell (did not need to be adjacent). Doesn't look like there is a way to change from C to Fahrenheit, and the built in temp probe was hovering just below the 60C limit (which is changeable). If this product lasts in the long run it is well worth the money and piece of mind.

Daly products have let me down too many times. Didnt get a chance to install it because the Bluetooth port in the Daly bms then it stopped working consistently so I stopped using it. Started acting up just before a very long sailing trip and then became a hazard. Spent many hundreds of $ on Daly just to be slow walked on a replacement for them when they died or started dying within a year, I gave up. Had to buy a different replacement bms and not sure what I did with it after I removed it. Was in touch with Daly when the Bluetooth ports and Bluetooth electronics were dead and dying. However I had to start my traveling before I would have been able to receive a replacement. Daly understood that I would contact them after my move to get it taken care of. I did contact them after I reached my destination however the unit had to be replaced during the trip and I don’t know where I put the unit. They wanted pics of their trouble shooting directions and I couldn’t provide that because of the situation. Therefore I threw away money again. I’ve been thru several Daly bms’s and none were reliable. Great ads they have but apparently the ones I’ve purchased were defective especially when needed for critical applications. Not happy and you should truly contemplate which brand of bms you use for an expensive lifepo4 battery bank. Daly makes money hand over fist with the bms’s but beware because you just may receive like I have and many others a bad piece of equipment. This review I didn’t really want to do but it is a necessity to give it. Good luck with your purchase.

Product works perfectly, I'm running two Lithium banks parallel and it's keeping all my cells charging evenly. Super easy to use and simply does it's job. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the Customer service member Wendy, she was super helpful in making sure I received the exact model I needed.

Inside the box for this is included the sampling cable and the bluetooth adapater. However, NO cable to connect to the Daly Smart BMS via UART to UART connection? Why not? Now I gotta order yet again another something. However, for what the balancer is supposed to do, its spot on. Within 24 hours, it got the 4 cells in my battery balanced within 0.003 volts. I am more than happy with that.

This 4S Active Balancer with BT dongle simply does not work! The BT access does not work. The Daly app to monitor the baattery does not recognize the balancer. So despite installing the Active Balancer, my system is only using the BMS's built-in passive balancing. No replies from their Tech Support. AVOID THIS GARBAGE!!!

I've no idea why they make these cables so short. What a hassle to extend them all. Aside from that the product works well once you figured out how the App works.
