Congrats to Ellen Oh
This book kept me on my toes, what a thriller! I felt so in touch with the Harper and only a really great author could create such a connection and compelling story all in one.

I loved it
So creepy in some parts, like a proper ghost story. I loved the characters, Harper was so great and I loved seeing her grow into herself. I loved the family connection, including her grandmother. I just love this.

Gripping ghost story
This is a middle-grade fantasy about Harper and her family, who move from New York City to Washington, DC — bad enough, but made even worse by their moving into a house haunted by a malevolent ghost. Well-developed, with solid characters and a very compelling plot. I look forward to more from this author!

Woah!
This book was so spooky that I sometimes was shocked this is middle grade! I loved the friendship in this and the growth of Harper. This was thrilling, and gave me goosebumps and hope all wrapped into one book. I can’t wait to see what Harper conquers next!

Fantastic Spooky Middle Grade Read
Loved this book! It was filled with suspense, scary moments, and characters that you want to cheer on as they face immense obstacles and fears. It's balanced with humor and a lot of heart.

Picky reader
My son is a very picky reader. He’s about to turn 12 and I’ve tried everything from classics to humor to adventure to horror. This was the only book he would not put down! He read it in a day! I was amazed! Definitely worth a read!

Very good story, I really enjoyed how it keeps to the point of the book (spirits) without the usual half a dozen chapters of unnecessary detail that only serve to fill pages , the backstory(s) here, really are relevant to the story and blends into how our heroin becomes a spirit hunter. I will defiantly look for more books from Ellen Oh!!

Funny and spooky Middle grade

That kind of cold air that makes your skin crawl.I am so glad I picked this one up. Spirit Hunters was just the spooky Middle Grade I had been craving. I mean it did not hold back, we're talking demonic possession, murderous ghosts, weird lucid dreams of the past. It was fab. This felt very reminiscent of Victoria Schwab's City of Ghosts series, but with a lot more diversity and characters that had depth. Harper is Korean and her best friend Dayo is Jamaican. I often find with a lot of middle grade, the characters and their personalities can take a back seat, but that was definitely not the case with this one.If you're in need of a little brain break from serious reads, and you love all things spooky and fun, this could be perfect for you! I finished it in less than 24 hours, it was so readable. There is a second installment called Spirit Hunters: The Island of Monsters, and I'm definitely going to be grabbing a copy of that aswell!
