This is a book for somatic therapists, clients and anyone who is on a healing journey
Jordan has done the somatic healing community a huge service by publshing this amazing book! There are not a lot of resources where somatic tools are written out and explained clearly and succintly - this book fills that gap. Often somatic tools in other books are interlaced into enormous amounts of theory - which is important - but the strategies can get lost in the shuffle. Jordan takes her expereice with Gestalt, Object relations, Somatic Experiecning and other theories and techniques and presents it in a way for an indvidual intersted in healing to further their journey, as a catalogue of interventions for therapists, and also as way workbook for clients and healers to do together - or any other combination. I run a large practice and have made sure that this book is avaialbe as resource for our clinicans in all of our offices. So if your looking to heal and are drawn to the powerful world of somatic therapy, this a great place to dive in, or to suppliment what you've already started.

Didn’t provide a lot of strategies
I was hoping to purchase this book and learn new strategies to incorporate into my practice but it was limited. A good introductory book if you’ve never heard of somatic therapy.

Purposeful + Healing
I just received this book yesterday and I’m on Chapter 4. I’m not a workbook person, but this is useful & supports my nervous system. It brings research (which is my love language), along with strategies to deepen my somatics journey. Invite all to dive in. I will be utilizing this again and again because ya know, neurons that fire together, write together.

Important resource
Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to re-establish more connection and regulation, and has experiences from their past or present which they might shift in relation to through the help of this book. Fantastic workbook.

A book for Everyone
This is such a helpful and accessible book, written beautifully and with great intention. If you have an interest in connecting more deeply with yourself, your past experiences, your body or with your partner, this book will give you tools, language and capacity. It is a valuable addition to any library.

Not Evidence-Based Techniques
I really appreciated the organization of this workbook. It has a pleasant and clear layout that is characteristic of this publisher. It is simple to read and for this reason many people can grasp the content and concepts. However I cannot recommend this book for three reasons. The first is the implied statement that the techniques are evidence based (advertised on the back cover). They are not supported by research in most cases. An example is “bilateral drawing” which the author cites as calming and regulating. This is simply not the case and it is obvious that the author does not know the procedures that are put in place for this type of approach in trauma work. Also, the references are either quite old or do not provide evidence based support. On the bilateral work, why didn’t this author note at least one of the books available that describe this process in detail? The author did not invent this technique and she read about it somewhere. This leaves one wondering if there are other missing references that were left out for some reason.I also wish this book were more trauma-informed. Models like Window of Tolerance and the use of the word “trigger” are popular, that is true. This is a minor detail, but it is important to me as a therapist when I provide workbooks to patients who has suffered trauma.Overall, this book is ironically very cognitive, asking people to make lists and do a lot of writing. Somatic therapy stays more closely with non verbal communication such as movement and sound and even drawing.Again, the layout is nice so I gave it a three star, but the content is not based on research and is more of a two star rating. The author could have said based on “emerging or best practices” — it would have been much more honest.

not really useful
I had high expectations so I'm disappointed. Nothing new or valuable.
