The two flexible pieces can be connected together to extend the length. They connect by twisting the two flexible parts together. There is not a separate connector part. The video and pictures included on the product description page are very helpful in understanding how to connect the pieces.

Does this have to be drilled into end of gutter?

Yes, you will need to drill a small hole through the gutter down drain to secure the extension with the screws included.
