I don’t write a lot of review but this lamp is so good I had to! I did not have very high expectations for this but this is such a brilliant lamp. It REALLY brightens up a space and does not make you miss ceiling lights! Great to look at, sleek and goes well with most aesthetics. The assembly was super easy & touch switch is super convenient. We bought two thinking we’d need them since our living room is large but one is good enough. We’re still keeping the second one though we hardly use it just coz we loved it so much. I’d highly recommend this if your space does not have ceiling light.

I bought this lamp to try to replace a 300Watt Halogen lamp. This lamp definitely does it, it is a superb product, assembly was trivial.The eyeballed light output, at the initial power on setting, equals or exceeds the Halogen lamp. The Brightech lamp has three light level settings and off, all controlled by a capacitive touch switch built into the pole. Even the second level almost equals the light output of an aged Halogen. The lamp always starts at the highest power level. The lamp can be connected to a standard wall switched or un-switched power socket, and I have been running it on an X10 light control module without any issue. You will notice a second or two delay from turning the power on and seeing the light if using a switch. If you are not using some sort of power switch you'll need up to three taps on the capacitive switch to turn the lamp off. The touch switch does work well, requiring barely a brush of the finger to operate.Power is provided by a power brick which outputs 24v @ 1.6A. So the power output maximum from the brick is 38.4Watts. The lamp is advertised at 30Watts so this is very reasonable. Dropping from 300Watts to 30Watts with the same or better light output is just what I was looking for. The light color is a medium warm 3000K color, 2700K is a typical warm white (yellow tinted color) So it is just a little bit more white than the Halogen, but it is not that harsh white you get from 5000K lights. The 'color' is quite nice.The lamp is not tall enough in my opinion, it needs another 6-7 inches of height. For me the light is about right at eye level, and the Brightech lamp is 6.5 inches shorter than my Halogen lamp. So if you are over 6' you'll probably want to put the lamp on something to raise it up. I'm going to try to procure a pole extension. The pole pieces just screw together and while the power does goes through the pole it does not prevent adding a piece between the base and the first pole where the power enters from the side.The power brick is nice but the power prongs are built into it which means the brick hangs on the wall, and can't be plugged into an X10 box directly. I had to use an extension cord. When plugging it directly into the wall socket it hangs down but did not seem to block use of the top socket. I suppose it depends on what you need to plug into the top socket.The best recommendation information I can provide is that I will be buying a second one later this year.

Revised review after owning two lamps for several weeks:The lamp came in a compact box, but assembled very easily. Seems to be well constructed, and the fact the head is so light allows the entire lamp to be so sleek without being wobbly - the base weight is heavy enough, and it works well on carpet as well as hard floors.The lamp lights up the room better than my previous 3 fluorescent tube lamp. It is instant on (using the pole switch - see comments following) with several dim levels and a beautiful sleek touch switch. Seems about 3000K color temperature(slight warm side of white, but not paper white). The lamp uses a (switching, not heavy transformer) "wall wart", with a somewhat kinky cord to connect which can be straightened acceptably by hand.The tilting head I could see two ways - giving you versatility to light the walls more when wanted, or something you have to keep straight. Luckily it is a firm enough adjustment that won't' fall out of true unless manually adjusted, so win-win.The only issue is a moderate problem for people who will plug this lamp into a switched outlet, e.g. you switch it on from the wall when you walk in the room. When switched on remotely (or plugged in initially when the lamp had been left "on"). With power first supplied to the power supply, there is about a 4 second delay before the lamp comes on. Once it comes on, it is immediately full brightness, but the delay can be rather confusing - "did I turn on the switch or not - what's happening here". For those users (which is how I use the lamp) I need to take off a few stars, and hope a future redesign can reduce the power-up delay.For people, like most who plug this in the wall, this is not an issue at all - when you hit the switch on the pole, the light appears instantly and all is well - an easy 5 stars for that use-case.

Surprised by how nice this lamp is, gives out good light and looks nice and sleek, not gimmicky like other LED lamps

I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the materials for this light and how sleek and modern it looks. I needed a floor lamp for my bedroom that had no over head lighting. The price point is amazing as when shopping around similar floor lamps were going for 2 - 3 times as much. It really lights up the room but has a very modern look to it. The pole and base are very sturdy and of high quality medal. Additionally, I like that the head of the lamp is adjustable so you can direct the light where you want to. Packaging was wonderful and I appreciated the small gesture of the thank you card. I would definitely recommend this lamp.

I now own several of these inexpensive torchieres. Good for dark spaces, like my converted attic office, easy to turn on/off, good looking and durable.

This light. Wish I’d have known sooner. Brightens up my living room area. Dimmer switch is nice as well. LED also. Win win.
