REAPERRPR74029 1in Hex Plastic Miniature Gaming Base (Pack of 20) Miniatures

One of my bases had a casting error. Reaper replaced it few questions ask. This review is for the product not the seller. I highly recommend Reaper miniatures products.

The 20 hexes arrived early for some miniatures that have already been painted and looking for some bases, they are the same size, thickness and color of the same bases as Catalyst Game Labs (battletech). Great find and fair price for 20 of the bases.

If I had a complaint, there is a very slight recess in the top of the base. These bases are made for many different miniatures, but most Battletech Mechs have a wide pose, that will require the recess to be filled, and sanded flat, or materiel applied to the mech's feet to sit flat, and sturdy. Not a big deal, very easy work around, just in a perfect world and all. I would buy again.

Base dimensions are almost identical to the original Battletech pewter bases. NOTE: the lip is only about 1/2 the height/depth of the original, so some IWM minis with base detail made to match original base lip will stick out by about 1mm. Easily fixable with a basing compound of your choosing and negligible in most cases. Great construction, sturdy, pit/mold line free, and ready to use out of the box. Way better than the "Aristeia!" bases I was using.

My game board is a little messed up because i thought that if I bought 1in hex bases and used them with 1in hex grid that they'd fit flush. However, the bases are actually a little bigger on the bottom, closer to 1.25in or 30mm to be precise. If you're making a grid for these bases, use a 1.25in or 30mm hex stencil.The reaper website actually provides these measurement details but this listing does not.

These have a lip around the sides of the platform. A lot of newer Battletech sculps and 3D prints have a footprint that goes to the edges of the hex so these do not work well. If you use a basing compound to level it out or file down the lip it's fine but just annoying to deal with.

These hexes are perfect for Battletech plastic miniatures as well as the lighter Pewter miniatures.

I bought these for Battletech foliage and they're perfect; Almost exactly the same size as the mech hex's with a little lip at the edge in case you want to add some earth. I drilled a hole in the middle for my trees and seriously, they're perfect.
