Poor quality connections
I utilize the PS4 gold headset and an external hard drive, filling out both of the USB ports available on my PS4. I purchased this accessory to allow me to use these peripherals and to have two slots to charge my controller and headphones as needed. This adapter does fit the unit quite well and looks sleak, but the quality of connections available is poor. My headphones consistently cut out and lost sound when their dongle was plugged in and the hard drive, meant to operate off a USB 3.0 connection, struggled to load media at normal speed as well. I finally decided to charge my accessories through my TV and use the ports on the PS4 for the headphone dongle and hard drive as before. I was quite disappointed with the low quality connections and found the device unusable for my needs.

Is what it is.
Know you system if you are buying this for a ps4. As far as running peripherals such as an external hard drive Nd a Bluetooth gaming headset it won't do. Ps4 runs off of us 3.0 hubs. This thing only has one. No fault of them I did my research after I bought it. If all you need is the ports to charge this is for you. But don't expect to run peripherals off of it. Again its not their fault. Should have just dont my homework better and paid attention. If you need to run peripherals get something like the 4-port USB 3.0 hub from Anker

Bad ps4 item
I purchased this item so I could plug in a 2 terabyte extended storage to my ps4 so I could have more storage. Well it never and I mean never stayed 100% connected in. It disconnected almost immediately every time which rendered it completely useless. Every time you unplug the Extended storage you need to do so a certain way or it could damage or loose all the data inside of it. So every time it lost connection it was a big deal and a screen came up yelling at me because it disconnected inappropriately. So I removed the item entirely n just plugged it staright into the ps4 n now the extended storage works perfectly. However the item with 5 usb ports is 100% garbage. Waste of money n time if I'm being completely honest.

Works Sort of
You really have to push the hub in hard in order for it to stay in place. It fell out a couple of times after I plugged it in. The disappointing part that it interferes the the controller connection to the console. The hub is bulky connected to the front of the console. When using the controller, it failed to respond often especially if the controller was parallel to the console. The controller would stop responding. At first I thought my controller was broken, but after I disconnected the hub, the controller worked just fine. Also the load times were slower from my external drive running through the hub and sometimes the games that are located external drive connected through the hub, failed to communicate with the console and crashed. It seemed more trouble that what it's worth and I stopped using it. Thanks.

Used on a standard 500gb ps4 with external hard drive
Saw many reviews on here saying it does not work with external hard drive or just doesn't work at all. Well it does, the pictures are right there, you can see the light of the hard drive on both images and on screen even gives me the option to remove external hard drive. The drive in there is a Toshiba 1tb external hard drive. Only "error" I got was something about too many USB plugged in but that was on me, the way to fix it is to turn off, unplug all USB items, wait 30 seconds, turn on then plug everything in one by one, first the hub then the drive then the USB cables for your controllers. For consistent energy flow I guess, I suggest making sure your USB cables are all of the same type. This thing works as advertised. I have the standard 500gb PS4, NOT the Pro or the Slim. The standard one. It's easy to install and it works

It works
I got my first one and worked for a couple days then didnt. So I requested a return/trade in. Got a different one before I even had time to drop it off at UPS. Shocked to be honest. Now it's my 2nd one. I tested each port and they work. It's a little rough to get in and you think you'll break it. But it needs to be flush with your psn. So far so good, I can charge my headset, have the Bluetooth headset plugged in, my controller station in, and my external storage box all plugged in. Super useful. 👌
