This Dog Collar is by far the best training tool to use for dog training. Why? Because it works! Dogs communicate with each other using their mouths and teeth constantly. Dogs mouth each other in play constantly, and a mother dog will pinch her puppy on the neck to control and correct the puppy. This collar is made of interlocking blunt links so when you give a swift correction it gently pinches the dog's neck mimicking the correction a mother dog gives her puppies. This doesn't hurt them, rather, you are communicating to the dog that you are the pack leader in a similar way a mother communicates to her puppies. It is an effective and useful management tool for gaining control at any phase of basic obedience training, an essential education that dogs deserve and need. The collar should fit snug and high on your dog's neck just behind the ears. This collar should not be left on the dog when unattended. If it isn't sold by Talents10, then it isn't a real Dog-Thing training collar. This collar is made out of metal, do not leave this collar outside or exposed to the elements in order to avoid rust.

Excellent investment
I just got my training collar today. I removed 3 links so it would fit around my 70 pound German Shepherds neck snugly. As soon as we walked outside with it on she took off like normal. This time she felt the pinch. Hasn’t lunged or tried to runaway since then. This training collar is the best thing I have bought on Amazon for my dog besides Poop bags and my Chuckit. Two Thumbs up

breaks constantly
the collar itself works great on our dog but every once in awhile a link will pop off and the collar drops off its very frustrating and slightly scary my dog is pretty good about not running off but if your dog isnt you could lose him in a heartbeat.

Great Obedience Training Tool
I have a 40 lb. Sheltie that is intent on pulling, jumping, and barking when we pass dogs, bicycles, runners and other walkers. I have tried several training collars and they were just not strong enough to deter him. I was worried that the Dog-Thing was going to hurt him with the prongs. I was needlessly worried. The prongs are bent so they only supply a sharp pinch when I lightly jerk the leash. The results have been excellent. I'm on my second day walking with this collar. My dog is attentive and immediately sits upon command. He already knows better than to run and jump when a dog passes. He is not all cured, but this collar is an excellent training tool to help us work together. If you've about given up hope of a well-mannered dog, try the Dog-Thing. It might just help out!

Game Changer
We rescued an unruly GSD who has no home training (which includes housebreaking). Unfortunately, the puppy was a big 11 months old when he got him, and given our small backyard, walking him twice a day is a must. This collar helped use maintain control of a dastardly smart fellow. The first collar broke with absolutely no trouble and at the worst possible place (a busy intersection). Luckily for me, he heeded his "new" name. This collar has good teeth to keep the pulling to a minimum. A quick snap and jerk and we have the semblance of discipline. Thank goodness for this collar.

One Unfortunate Design Weakness
My 100 pound puppy (Great Pyrenees) pulls strong and this collar immediately solved that but for one thing. The barbs go only one direction and the collar tends to flip inside-out and become just a straight choke which is not optimally oriented to the choke function. When the barbs are properly in place, we have a nice loose-leash walk but otherwise we are back at the stubborn pulling stage.

Does the job, fits a wide range of neck sizes
Very strong steel and carefully machined so there are no sharp edges. I would recommend this for a larger dog however, the length of the prongs and size of the collar make it a little too large for smaller dogs. The collar easily loosens as soon as the dog releases pressure on the leash. One downside is that I think the prongs are too long, and make the collar sit too high off the dogs neck. One of the review categories is stretch, which is funny because this is a stainless steel collar. Unless you are using this to tow your trailer, it wont stretch.

If I could do this again I would try a shorter one and hope it’s not made with as heavy of links.
I have fairly well mannered German Short Hair Pointers that weight about 50 pounds. I decided to purchased the XL bundle and expected it might be too long, but they are adjustable by removing links. When I got it though I was shocked at how beefy this mofo is. The XL is definitely good for dogs more around 100+ pounds.I will use this on my largest dog so not to cause extra weight on the necks of my young pups.I took out 2 links to get it the same length of another one I have. I needed pliers to do it. So Id say its very very durable. With 2 links removed it now measures 20” long and weighs 9.88 oz. The metal link diameter is 0.15”. This extra diameter causes 33% more weight. You would want it to ride high on the dog’s neck for best control. At 20” long my other collars only weigh 6.70oz, due to their links being 0.125” diameter.

Marvelous training tool
This pronged color does not hurt the dog, but rather saves the throat . Constant pulling with a leather or chain collar can cause damage to a dogs throat . This collar stops that and allows you to control and train your dog without hurting it in a way that cannot be done with a harness.
