GREAT STORY AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Grand Kids had me read this again and again at story time.A little "scary" in parts but just a small reminder that it's onlya story was enough for our 2 and 4 year olds.

Great book for easrly readers
Our young grandson, who is in first grade, loved this book. The level was perfect for an early reader. He found the stories fun to read and has reread the book many times.

Excellent Book
The Lolly, Sam, and Spider stories are some of my favorite books by James Marshall. The independent reading kevel is about beginning second grade. These would also be appropriate for teaching children how to make a story more interesting ( in this book, Lolly, Sam, and Spider tell scary stories to make Spider's little brother Willie go home - the first story is somewhat dull, the next one better, and the third even better, but Willie tells the scariest story of all). My second grade grandson was delighted by this book.

Highly recommended
These are really fun books for beginner readers. My son is 7 and he's hooked on them. They are all broke down into 3 stories so he can read a little or read cover to cover.

a teacher says....
My students (from pre K to 2nd grade) love to read and especially hear these books when reading with expression! I've even had fourth graders enjoy this as a quick read alound.

Good Books
This series of books by James Marshall is imaginative with subtle humor in the word play. My sons laughed out loud at the stories when I read them to them, and now my grandsons are enjoying them.

Great Read Aloud.
These stories within a story are enjoyable as a read aloud or for young children who are learning to read. Sam, Spider, and Lolly may be trying to scare a pesky brother away with their scary stories, but this may backfire. I have been reading this book to my students for many years. It never fails to amuse.

book review
I bought this book for my son after a spell in hospital it was a book in the paediatric ward and it really took his mind off his ilness. The book has a few stories in it and it really kept my son occupied I must have read it to him about 10 times. As soon as he came out of hospital I ordered it for him and he still enjoys listening to it and reading it himself.
