I used this kit to test my pond that had signs of blue green algae. I had treated the pond but wanted to make sure it was safe for my dogs to swim. I would give it 5 stars, but the cost is prohibitive and the directions don’t say if you should test the water that has the slime on it or in a clear area.

So simple and easy to use can save your child's or dogs life, and its inexpensive and only takes 15 minutes for peace of mind. I use it every time we go camping by water or even for a day trip. I live in oregon and yes we have clean water but better safe than sorry.

We bought this to make sure our dogs would be safe to play in the water near our home. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and we now have peace of mind that the water is fine. It’s pricier than I would have liked for one test kit but we weren’t able to find anything cheaper.

Great Kit! We purchased this to test our pond water and it did exactly what we needed it to. Taking the sample is easy, waiting for the results takes very little time, and we were able to treat our pond based on the results without having to take a water sample somewhere else to be tested.

This product contains only one test. Very expensive. Will not buy again. Not really sure how accurate it is or who has certified the product.

Worked great and gave me peace of mind letting my dogs freely swim while camping. The other thing I will say is that the name got me. I thought it was five test strips but "5Strands" is actually the name of the company. This kit only has one test. It is a little pricey for one test but I'd rather that than a sick animal.

Easy to use and quick result. Watch out though because the testing tube does get very hot!!

Love the peace of mind that this kit provides. During the summer months, lots of lakes near me had algae blooms and it’s scary not knowing if it’s safe for my dog to swim. This is valuable reassurance for my dog!!

I have used this test a number of times this summer, to monitor water quality in a pond with confirmed cyanobacteria blooms. It is fast and easy to use and does give you some peace of mind. However I don't believe the test detects lipopolysaccharides - also a product of cyanobacteria blooms. I started getting a short-lived itch whenever pond water came into contact with my skin, where Phormidium was lab-confirmed to be present - despite the test being negative for toxins. I still believe the test as wildlife are still healthy, but noticeably birds and even deer have started avoiding their favourite water hole.
