Spigen Rugged Armor Designed for Google Pixel 2 XL Case (2017) - Black

I purchased this phone case in November of 2018 after using essentially the same product for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for about two years. I was very pleased with the Note 4's case and expected the same experience with the Pixel 2XL. About six months in, I am not disappointed. The case has remained a nice, clean black colour. It's a classy look and I appreciate the smooth, matte surface. It has sustained minimal surface damage from normal wear and tear that does not majorly affect the product's aesthetic. The case does not obstruct the charging outlet, the microphone, the fingerprint scanner, or any other features. The buttons are enclosed within the case, but operate normally and have sustained no damage. I'm going to go ahead and address some of the complaints from the negative reviews - and frankly, it's clear that some of the people reviewing just have no idea what they are doing. [The case doesn't fit my phone.] This phone case is for the Pixel 2XL, specifically, and is a nice, tight fit on this phone while being flexible enough to remove without difficulty, if necessary. Please do not purchase this case for the Pixel, Pixel XL, or Pixel 2 and then complain that it doesn't fit. [The case covers my headphone jack.) The Pixel 2XL does not have a headphone jack. ["Magnets don't work."] This case does not contain a magnet. If you want to adhere a magnet to the exterior of this case for use with a phone mount, that shouldn't be a problem; the surface is smooth enough. I've had a Raichu sticker on mine for a few months. [Case is infused with a fragrance.] I can assure you that it isn't. This sounds like some sort of incident occurred in transit that no one was willing to take accountability for. [Case is slippery/difficult to grip.] I have no frame of reference for what these folks are comparing this case against in terms of grip. It has an almost rubberized feel and is very smooth and soft to the touch. I would say that it's about on par with the silicone Roocase I have on my work phone in terms of grip and certainly provides more friction than the bare Pixel 2XL, which feels like an impossibly thin, glassy object to me. I'm not much of a butter fingers and I take care of my stuff. I have never dropped a phone in a toilet, for example (though I will admit to once falling into the ocean with a phone in my pocket - I live in California, these things happen). I will say that I drop my phone about as often as I would anything else that I spend so much time holding in my hand. I cannot blame this on the texture of the case. If you are looking for a case with ridges or a textured edge, this one might not be a good fit for you. [I dropped my phone once with this case on and the screen broke.] No phone case will offer perfect protection and the ratings that companies brag on are no guarantee. I also saw a review on here from someone who claimed their phone was run over by a car and sustained no damage with this case on. I wouldn't expect either of these to be typical experiences. This case is somewhat flexible, with a rubbery texture, rounded corners, and a slight lip around the screen that prevents it from directly contacting a surface if placed screen-down. While it can be expected to provide some hardware protection and minor screen protection, I would still recommend using a screen protector. They are inexpensive and will protect the screen from scratching, if nothing else. I am using this phone case in conjunction with an amFilm glass screen protector. My phone has still taken its lumps. I am a professional driver and I am always on the go. I keep my work phone and my professional phone in the same back pocket, where they rub and knock together and are regularly sat on. I have dropped my phone between seats, onto car floors, and onto the cement floor of the garage while switching between vehicles. I don't make any special effort to set my phone down gently. I drop it into cup holders and toss it onto tables without a second thought. Through it all, this case has sustained only very minor scratching and rubbed smooth in a couple places (see images) and while I managed to break the screen protector once, the phone itself has sustained no damage. To whom should I assign the credit for this durability? To Spigen's rugged case? To amFilm's tempered glass? To Google's product for just being well-made on its own? And if I do eventually manage to break my phone screen or damage the phone's hardware, whom should I blame? Overall, I have no concerns over the durability of this case or the level of protection it provides and am comfortable vouching for it.

Arrived on time and in an orderly manner. Despite the rainy weather, the package was in very good condition. After opening the product, the case was had a very flimsy yet sturdy feel to it. The surface and inside of the case was smooth and shiny, so there weren't any marks, scratches, or scuffs that seemed noticeable. Putting on the case to the phone, it was a perfect fit. The lip of the case is extended by a couple of millimeters to prevent any screen drops while keeping a nice minimal look and feel to it. The charging port, the top microphone, and camera cutouts are perfect. The power and the volume buttons on the side of the case are very clicky and tactile. Overall, amazing case. Very sleek and professional. Love the carbon fiber look to the top and bottom portion of the backside of the case. However, one small thing is bothering me. The cutout for the fingerprint sensor of the phone is off. It's not a perfect circle so some areas around the sensor show more than others. Although. I can't say the same thing about other cases that other people have received. Looking past that, however, you shouldn't be focusing on the back of your phone all the time so it shouldn't be a problem. Good looking and impressive case.

Spigen definitely makes some of the better phone cases in the market. I have bought cases from Spigen in the past for various phones and they seem to never disappoint. The phone case I just bought for my pixel 2 XL is great. Very nice texture and also the matte like material prevents fingerprints. The overall look is sleek and I believe the case helps hold the phones aesthetics in place. I just got this phone and used it for a couple of hours right now. I love the indent the case leaves in the front so when you lay it down on the ground glass down that the front of the phone isn't really touching the surface. There is also that indent where the camera is. Finger print reader is still easily accessible without looking and isn't a problem at all with the case. The buttons responds well and does not need to be pressed hard. Value wise --- this case is worth the price. I believe that you get what you pay for and if you want a good protection for your phone you should be willing to be a little more for a better product. I used to switch phones all the time but I am planning on my keeping my pixel 2 for a long time because it's such a great phone so I am willing to pay a little more to keep phone in great shape even after couple years of using it. The Spigen Rugged Armor Google Pixel 2 XL Case is a very nice case that offers decent protection and is priced right. The case looks good, feels good, and isn't too bulky. It fitts the phone well and everything lines up as it should. I have no issues with the buttons, etc. There is a decent sized lip to protect the screen, and good protection on the back for the camera and fingerprint sensor. My only caveat might be that the case is lightweight and fairly thin. It is excellent for someone that doesn't want a case that is too bulky, but it might not provide the best protection from a major fall. All around though, it is a good inexpensive case.

This is the second Spigen phone case I've owned. Both have been high-quality products that were thoughtfully designed for a precise fit for my phones. This Pixel 2 XL case is sturdy without adding a lot of bulk or heft to my phone. The case's lip around the screen is slightly raised, enough to keep the screen from being in contact with a surface when face-down - and same for the backside camera and fingerprint sensor. The case's slightly rubberized feel actually makes my Pixel easier to hold and grip, while being sleek enough that it won't stick to other items in my pocket. Lastly, and most importantly, I feel confident that this Spigen case will provide adequate protection for my Pixel if I were to drop it. Spigen also offers a variety of thinner and thicker cases, so find the one that is right for your protection needs.

This case feels good on the phone and feels very protective. It is thick, and feels like it would definitely protect the phone if dropped at any angle. The screen will be protected when laying screen down, which is what I wanted. ---- Update: My phone fell out of my pocket in a parking lot. When I found it, it was screen down. I could tell that my screen protector (Skinomi TechSkin) was mucked up quite a bit, but when I got home I can clearly see that a CAR had driven over the phone. The tire tracks left a small smudge on this case that I can easily wipe off, and the edges on the front show absolutely NO damage. I seriously can not believe it was rolled over, my screen is not broken and I could not tell by looking at the case until it was well lit up and now that its cleaned there are no signs of damage! Besides the case being small and comfortable to hold, it offers serious protection! Make sure you get the case friendly Skinomi.

Wanted something that would protect my phone without being cumbersome. Seems to be working out really well so far! Streamlined, simple, and has protected my phone from minor bumps and a couple short distance fumbles (1-2 feet above ground). I like the matte finish, adds a little friction so the phone doesn't slip around. If your phone ends up in the same compartment of your bag as your keys, the matte finish will get some scratches. Best remedy, keep them separate if minor scratches bug you. Mine has a few, but since it's matte, they don't show up all that easily. The carbon fiber details aren't showing any signs of wear yet. Update 09/12/2019: The cover is still going strong! Looks new still. I dropped my phone from waist-high at IKEA a couple of weekends ago on the cement flooring (noooooo!! well... that's not *actually* what I said at the time... *ahem*) and my phone survived!!! I was sure my screen would have shattered, but no... still good. No damage. Still very happy with this case.

OK maybe not exactly NUCLEAR - but you're probably not going to care anyway at that point. It is a very sturdy case. Because both the screen and the back side can be fully covered, it's sizeable. The back side is a tight but secure fit. All the holes match up exactly. The screen cover fits over that with a satisfying snap. The belt clip also adds to its bulk. But you didn't buy the phone this covers to fit in some tiny, cute pocket, did you? It's exactly what I wanted: sturdy, nearly indestructible under normal circumstances and use, and the front piece protects the screen. I wiped out a screen on a favorite phone of mine moving furniture one day. I didn't want a repeat. It's very well designed, and as you snap on the screen cover, it does a perfect job of going over it without hitting the side buttons. It seems like it should but it doesn't. It's not hard to get it off when the phone rings, but it's a touch more tricky, especially when you're trying to answer the phone quickly. My wife has exactly the same thing. But she just snaps the front cover to the back cover which also works fine. The very minor con I have is that there's a flap that covers the connection port, which can be a little tricky to hold open while inserting the cable. If it really bothers someone, they can razor or cut it off. But I haven't and don't plan to: it's a minor inconvenience to the fact it's protecting that port from contamination. In short, I'm glad I got this and not something else. Actually - I DID get something else initially, but when I saw this, I had to have it. No regrets.

La calidad habitual de los productos Spigen. Buena muestra de que vale la pena gastar u poco más para comprar algo bueno. El ajuste es excelente, el móvil se siente "sólido" al estar en la funda. El reborde con el que esta diseñada permite ponerlo boca abajo sin peligro de estropear la pantalla. Y por cierto, he de agradecer que en más de una ocasión (en otros móviles) este tipo de funda me ha salvado de una costosa reparación.

Lovely case. Fits perfectly without worry of it damaging/scuffing the edges of the phone (always a worry with new handsets). They give simple instructions how to do it best and it works every single time. Looks great with the all black design and the carbon fiber like bits on the back. The feels is very nice although it can be a bit slippery so take extra care if you tend to drop phones. Following on from the last comment is the main reason you want a case. The protection. It is a slightly bulky case (why it's called Rugged Armor) and I have no doubt it would protect the handset from even a high drop with the amount of rubber around the sides. The best thing I like about the case however is the small lip it has around the front edge. This may not be to everyone's taste as it does make the phones bezel look bigger but if you happen to drop the phone face first you'll most definitely be thankful for it! Especially now with phones having curved screens, getting the tempered glass screen protectors no longer is viable as they tend to peel from the edges. I'd advise getting either a normal plastic protector or a glass one which doesn't go all the way to the edge. All in all great product. It's a good mix between protection (most important) and looks/feel.

Got this as a gift for fiancée, fits snug! Sure a good case at this price point :) plus it's hard to find a case in a retail store.
