Revised review! Great HRM for resistance, CV, HIIT work.
****Review update**** I originally gave this product 3 stars - I was having mixed results with it. I assumed that this HRM was not able to maintain and record bluetooth and 5Ghz "gymlink" connections at the same time. I would switch the app on (polar or wazoo) in my gym. The PRECOR gym kit would show my HR, but when I checked the app, it showed significant drop outs.I RESOLVED this. It transpired that this was a power management issue on my phone, if I was using Spotify/Netflix at the same time, my phone was not running HR tracker apps in the background. My phone is a Huawei P30 Pro - I went to settings>Battery>App Launch and turned off "Manage Automatically" for each fitness app. Now it appears to operate flawlessly. Both for CV and resistance workout. Now - I give this 5 STARSThe Polar H10 features a suite of connectivity options as follows;- ANT+ - which is a Garmin product, and I've yet to find a use for it. I own no compatible equipment.- Bluetooth - great - can support 2 devices simultaneously.- 5ghz "gymlink" - which can connect to some gym equipment eg. PrecorIn the Polar app you can switch each of these off - I guess this would save power. I cant comment on battery life - not used it for long enough but polar app shows it as "FULL" after 8-10 hours training. The strap is not one of the generic ones, has a plastic clip to connect it together, which I hope will hold up. The cheaper ones have a metal clip. The Polar app is more than sufficient for me - provides a number of profiles for different activities. And a good HR readout is provided at the end, and you can easily see the HR zones as you train. Ive also tried it with Strava, MapMyRun, and Wazoo. All with good results.I cant comment on water resistance - others have commented on this, but I do not swim with this on.

A good HR monitor that you can view in real time on your phone
So far, it does what it’s supposed to do - measure my HR. It connects to the gym equipment I use so I can see my HR at that moment and the Polar Beats app allows me to view my HR through a workout in the different training zones. 2 frustrations, I can’t allows find a pre-installed workout that matches what I’m actually doing e.g. stairmaster aka mountain climber and the app doesn’t allows sync my workout with Apple Fitness. It can be forced sometimes but you can end up with a double workout….

An easy recommendation to anyone needing an open, accurate HR monitor
The item arrived in a nice efficient package and was easily unpacked. Adjusting the strap is very straightforward and, once suitably modified, the strap is comfortable to wear after the initial shock of the cool pads passes.I found pairing the device to both the polar apps and the QZ app I use for my spin bike very straightforward and have had no issues with the device being automatically picked up on subsequent workouts.I bought this primarily for the reliability of the monitoring and open nature of conenction (i.e. being able to easily pair it to third party apps/devices) and I'm happy this has lived up to the promise on both counts. The monitoring element is more accurate than the optical monitor I had in my Pixel watch so I'm happy that my workouts are now being more accurately tracked and heart zone based training is more easily tracked now.The Polar apps themselves seem a bit rudimentary but, as noted, you don't have to use them for anything meaningful besides adjusting device settings and applying updates. That's going to be such an infrequent activity that I'm not counting it against the device. At the sale price of ~£60 this is an easy recommendation to anyone needing an open, accurate HR monitor.

TERRIBLE PURCHASE, WASTE OF MONEY
Absolutely terrible Purchased on 3rd of May and it has already stopped working by 23rd July. Changed the battery, done the "reset" and still nothing. The app is absolutely terrible as well, everything is so clunky and makes no sense. Whoever is in charge of UX design for the app needs to be fired and find a different career path; and the UX for the device itself is awful too. No feedback no indicators of whether its actually working, or turned on, or has battery, or i connected to bluetooth. Just a hunk of plastic. CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP. Absolute waste of money. Go with another comapany And why the hell are there two apps?!?! Its an absolute shambles over at the Polar headquarters

Great training aid
I am using this with the Polar bear app.The app is free it gives encouragement basic information about your workout. The strap is of good quality and comfortable. The sensor seems to give accurate readings across a range of activities. The sensor links with gym equipment which is great when you want to move your hands away from sensors.Getting great feedback from the app although I am only using the basics ,there are a lot apps offered by Polar

Market leading chest HRM and I can see why...
Great chest strap heart rate monitor, I find this is far better at reliable, artifact free HRV measurement than any of the Garmin straps I have used in the past and much more comfortable too and feels like the strap will last longer. Just be aware of the strap sizes - The S size is for teeny tiny children and wouldn't even come close to fitting round me even though I'm an S t-shirt, so I had to buy the correct strap seperately.
